Com will always be affiliated with Kanye/GOOD, his best friend/longtime producer is Ye's mentor and in-house producer plus Com was already an established rapper before Ye was, being on GOOD helped bring Ye his conscious/backpacker fans and colabborators like Talib and Mos, Kanye paid him back by lacing his albums with classic beats to rhyme on giving him critical acclaim but now it seems like Common wants branch out and do more things (movies and books) so he left the label, now that he is back on top he isn't really needed that much anymore.
