right now the way the internet is set up and itunes is set up and music blogs are set up, the entrance fee to getting your music out there and heard is very low.

everybody on average accesses music through the same ways: itunes, blogs, youtube, whatever depending on your tastes and compulsiveness

if streaming becomes the norm, and i think thats what the music industry is trying to do, then the set up becomes harder for lower tier artists to get heard.

the class divide between mixtape artists and bigger artists will expand i feel.

it seems like right now streaming site gatekeepers are focusing on having those big name artists on their rosters. if everybody starts flocking to streaming sites, then newer more underground artists wont have access to the current audience or platform of the internet.

idk maybe streaming sites will actually allow for new talent to post their music and it wont be as inaccessible as i think.

but still idk yo idk

Or... just make good music because the rest of the internet exists, and word travels fairly fast?
To people that actually care about artists outside the billboard top 100, streaming will never actually matter until it is literally impossible to download anything you want for free online (will never happen)

They will still have to do something about piracy and the internet which I don't see them doing.

but the growth of artists outside the top 100 might be stunted if they can't prove themselves to be commercially viable on streaming sites

I think I'm scared that whatever business formula they use to make a profit off streaming will prevent lesser known artists from getting streamed. it feels like iTunes doesn't have that problem

but this comes down to whatever the business model is and idk wtf it is
