Why does hypebeast culture have to be so fucking corny?

I do my honest best everyday to not hate on people just because they innocently enjoy things that I don't. But today is going to be a cheat day and this is a cheat thread for me.

I saw this the other day:

This is not the first time I've seen a stupid picture of a cartoon character in name brands like this, but I don't cringe at it now any less than I did upon seeing it for the first time. How do people think this is anything other than awful?

BUT THEN, I decided to do some 2 minute research, and it seems like that post has MORE LIKES than almost anything else they've posted recently. So clearly I'm out of touch in some capacity.

Being a hypebeast in and of itself is one thing. It is corny to be one, but that's a different thing and a different conversation. I think actually enjoying a photo like this is an unnecessary add-on to being a Hypebeast who simply likes trendy clothing. It feels like the 2 traits don't need to go hand-in-hand, yet they often do.

So why is this? Someone explain to me why corny shit like this isn't seen for what it is by so many people. This isn't the only type of lame shit I see from accounts like HS, HB, Complex, etc., but it's probably one of the types that I hate the most.

(Again, I know I'm hating but I'm also genuinely interested in the appeal. I typed a lot but I'm not actually mad over it or anything)

Honestly its because at this age range ppl are still finding themselves and mixing their childhood interests (nostalgia) with their adult interests which at times becomes very cringey.
def agree. Its the demographic, that simple. Let's be honest with ourselves we've all worn corny shit at one point or another. Shit, I see fits I wore a year ago and I'm like yikes
