What does "best basketball player ever" mean

Is it in a team setting or measured on an individual basis?

I say the right way to define it is in a team setting because basketball is a team sport 99% of the time unless its 1 v 1.

going by that, Lebron James is the best basketball player in nba history. These finals has solidified my point because no matter his inefficiency he has one tool that still makes him the best player on the floor, his playmking abilities. He can not only score with the best of them, he can PASS with the best of them too.He is the greatest scorer and passer combo player  in nba history. The only man that can consistently drop 35 while elevating the play of the other 4 starters on his team. That is a talent that separates him from the others on a 5 v 5 setting.

He is pushing a 67 win team to at least 6 games in an nba final with a lineup consisting of himself, shumpert, deledova, thompson, and mozgov.

all names that will never be remembered.

I don't think Lebron would've been able to handle how physical the NBA used to be. There wasn't the type of flopping you see today.
He's not the greatest and he won't be if he wins

Top 5, perhaps.

Everyone wants to say they watched the GOAT play though
I've only been alive for so long and only been paying attention to basketball since like early 2000s...the only assessment I can fairly make is that Lebron is the best I've watched

you guys seriously overrate the impact players have on other players

I dont give a flying fuck if he passes to a player, he DOES NOT hit the shot for them. Yall just spitting in the faces of these players that work hard and come ready to play basketball with the right mindsets when you say they can only be good because some roid raging loser is on the court with them

they are hitting the shots, they are grabbing offensive boards like mad, they are sacrificing their bodies every play. none of that has to do with lebron james. its all on them as an individual player.

he wouldn't flop back then obviously

He'd tank through the league if we're being honest

Lebron is one of the strongest (pound for pound) and most athletic players the league has ever seen lmfao. He's just playing the game as the rules allow it. He wouldn't flop if he wouldn't get rewarded for it. Don't get it twisted

This. Flopping only exists because it's what the rules allow. Why the fuck would you do it if there was no benefit?

lirl the same could be said about what was allowed back then, all the rules that were instilled back then because things were abused. Lebron could of just as easily been the best one capitalizing on them.
