he explained... it represents the cult around what's popular.
the little kid had no hood on in the beginning, and he was running with his "free mind"
n at the end he had the hood on, and was walking slow with the rest of the cult.

something like that

the hood represent society ideals... when AOTL starts the boy is running free
with the red flame as has thought/creativity

when it ends, he's hooded by society and walks slow because the lost of innocence.

plus he said it had nothing to do with the KKK...he talked about taking that symbolism back from those who made it into something so negative. the designer came up with the look and he simply thought it looked cool
