Voting Rights

Our right to vote as an American citizen is protected by the Constitution.

My question: Do you think anyone and everyone should be given the right to vote?

This includes:
Criminals in jail/ released from jail.
People who are unable to make decisions for them self (such as mentally handicapped people, mentally insane, etc.)
People who are not American citizens. Maybe they have a green card and live in the US?
And anyone else.

Should there be a voting age? Can a 13 year old make his own decisions?

1. Yes. Unless they're incarcerated.
2. Yes.
3. Nope. Maybe if they're in the process of acquiring citizenship.
4. 18 is one of the few federal set age limits that is perfect for this.

What if the immigrant has lived here their entire life, speaks english and is a hard worker?
And why is 18 the perfect age?

I don't even think it's possible for an immigrant to live in the U.S. for 18 years off of strictly green cards making no attempts at emigrating.

And honestly, it's maturity. While there's always going to be some people who mature earlier, or mature later, that's the best age if you're looking to have voters that actually think independently/aren't following their parents pressed ideology/are actually educated.

I don't think 13 year olds should have the right to vote. They're still not mature enough to make major life decisions.

Of course its possible. Some people are lazy and consider themselves citizens if they've lived here their whole life. I know someone who has this and got sent back to Mexico.

Should people have to take a test? A lot of people still arent mature at age 18. The average citizen knows nothing about politics or even their rights.

I was a very mature 13 year old :tash: Some 18 year olds have the same mentality as a 13 year old.

But generally speaking... 13 year olds just aren't mature enough. I mean, we're talking about 7th and 8th graders here haha.

What about people with mental disabilities? People who are legally insane? (Hypothetically speaking, of course. I have nothing against them.)

IQ Tests should be required for voting.
Why?

Wait, CURRENTLY, are those populations barred from voting?

Mainly because I am tired of the exceptionally stupid voting.

I'm going to end up severely derailing your thread if this line of thought continues.
Back to your topic. Enjoy haha.

I give you permission. I just want people's opinions. I think there should be an IQ test to drive to be honest.
I think you should be 21 to join the military drink smoke and vote. 21 is the age where you physically and mentally done growing.

On this note... I think the drinking age should be lowered.
