So, as I drove home from my school with my grandmother, I told her I wanted her to hear a song that I found beautiful.
I put on Street Lights, and explained to her what auto-tune was.
Thus, I sparked a 20 minute argument over the topic.
I told her that I embraced the technology. It, in my opinion, gives anyone a chance to express themselves in a musical fashion, because now anyone can pick up a microphone and sing their heart out, without fear of sounding bad (myself included).
For the same reasons I praised it, she put it down. She said she disliked the fact that just "anyone" can sing now, making the "true" singers less special. She said that traditional singers were now less important, and that these technology users are now just taking the easy way out.
I just wanted to express this one with you guys, and hear your views on what auto-tune means for society as a whole.
