Both were built off antiestablishment and non conformity, that gave people that came from nothing/had no “future” a chance to not only succeed but create one of the most powerful things us humans can do. Make sounds. Music.

They both got destroyed as time went on intentionally. Rap used to never be on the radio now it’s pop. But it’s obviously not the same rap. Rock and roll was also killed by those not in tune with the “culture”.

Rap going pop hurt the culture in so many ways but rap and rock are nowhere near ''killed'' cause good music is timeless

I'll still bump wu tang and pink floyd in my 50s and I bet I aint the only one that'll do so

They’re not dumb
Hyper commercialization got them paid
the government introduced this to them. They understand the power of music. Literally artists get big now because they’re shoved in your face, even shit ones. See where I’m going with this
