This interview is trash. Charlemagne wasted so much time asking old and irrelevant questions which made Ye feel uncomfortable and anxious because he has so much bottled up inside him concerning much more controversial and immediate topics of interest. Charlemagne beginning the conversation with intimate questions about Ye's aspirations and personal philosophy came across as unauthentic, which resulted in a poor flow of communication, a lack of openness and a sense of anxiety. He is not Kanye's close friend and has always been critical of him, but now all the sudden he's talking to him as if they're as close as childhood friends reflecting on memories from the past and sharing personal beliefs. So much of the conversation lacked context and Charlemagne playing along by agreeing with him on everything made it only worse. Nobody asks him questions about his view on specific issues (beyond just black people) and how it led him to side with Trump. We never get to those important answers because every black person around him just bullies him into apologizing and feeling ashamed of his true thoughts. They fear that if he were to speak in confidence and specificity it would make too much sense to people listening and result in a loss of support for their agenda.

Kanye is woke inside, but he still falls pressure to the suppressive actions of those who intimidate him from expressing himself.
