Ok guys, right now I only listen to hip-hop rap, but I want to start listening to some r&b, so can anyone recommend some artists for me? (no Luther Vandross or R. Kelly, already got them)

JOHN FUCKING LEGEND

Also if you don't listen to Marvin Gaye then you haven't lived.

Laura Izibor and Sade.

Not technically straight R&B but Ben Harper blends rock, blues, reggae and even country and its awesome.

actually I have over 200 Marvin Gaye songs, and John Legends whole discograpgy.

That Laura Izibor chick is pretty good (not to mention super fine). Dont really like Sade (heard a couple songs)

Ben Harper, I already like him, (just didnt consider him R&B)
Boys 2 men...

Kci and jojo, dru hill, Kevon edmonds (24/7 album), Brian Mcknight, Keith Sweat (older stuff: nobody, twisted), Joe (I wanna know, etc.), 112, Jagged Edge, Tyrese, Raheem DeVaughn, Avant?... Hmmm

I mainly listen to Marvin Gaye and John Legend.

Its really hard to find modern R&B artists that sound as classical as John Legend and aren't all about  "bein fly and bitches & hoes". I like Ne-yo and Robin Thicke ok though.

I saw Laura Izibor open for John Legend last year, she is amazing. And I love to listen to Sade when I just want to chill out. You should give the new album a listen.

And yea technically I wouldn't consider Ben Harper R&B but hes still fucking awesome...

Ummm Anthony Hamilton and Alicia Keys are some more off the top of my head.
Used to listen to Boyz II Men and Brian McKnight back in the day

Joy Joseph (backup vocals for Mr. Hudson) is putting out an album soon and she very much has an R&B sound to her.

I have had so much trouble finding any modern R&B except John Legend that I really enjoy. What John Legend does that other artists don't is that he brings a certain class to the music. I want to be able to play the song in front of my mother without her blushing. Not every single song has to be about fucking.

That said, sex and innuendo have always been apart of music but in a lovely, nuanced way. This in your face, vulgar crap that every artist seems to put out is getting old.

And don't get me started on production, everything is so overproduced! Has nobody heard the saying less is more? Sometimes it really is! That John Legend song I posted earlier is so simple, just him and the strings for the most part, but also such an incredibly beautiful song.
John Legend's voice is just amazing. I really can't get into modern day "R&B" (really can't even call it that).

It really is, when I saw him live a girl got called up stage to dance with him and she was literally sexing him to death with her eyes lol.

Same, I need to find some more older artists that I like at least
