You know what I'm talking about, the kind of rap music that justifies what youtube commenters do, the kind of thing that makes you wonder how it sells, the kind of garbage that has literally 0 art in it, 0 justification for its existence, the kind of rap music that makes people say "cRap." Rap has existed for years, but there are always artists that have dragged it down from being a serious art form. These artists are usually seen as talentless garbage that sell to morons that many pseudo-intellectuals perceive as raps primary fan base. The kind of trash that sells in the hood and spawns dance trends that never stick, rap that was literally only known for being someone's ring tone on their phone. Music that is repetitive, dull, and doesn't progress the genre. I want your examples of this kind of music, and your discussion on why trends like that have continued to exist despite things such as the Flynn effect. We are more intelligent as a whole than we were years ago, and yet trash still seems to sell. Is musical intelligence a branch of general intelligence, or a whole new tree?

Here are examples of rap music that I feel adds to the whole stereotype of rap is trash.

In recent years Rick Ross has proven to be a more capable MC, and when he really nails a song, he NAILS it, like that song is a 10/10 guaranteed when Rick Ross does his thing properly, but in the past he was a different MC, one that couldn't rap very well at all, one that had no real identity, and one that was merely a way to milk the masses of their money. This song is garbage, not only is it lyrically trash, but it is sonically displeasing. It's over-the-top music taken way over the top, its the kind of song that makes you wonder what was going through the rappers head when he made it.

Gambino represents the faux-art side of hip-hop. The kind of MC that goes too far out of their way to be perceived as different. The kind of MC that tries so hard to be seen as unique from the more hood rappers, but still tries to rap like the hood rappers. The kind of MC that has 0 taste in what is good or bad. This is the kind of music that is entry-level enough that anyone can listen to it, but has enough mysteriousness to it that it makes the teenagers who spend hours listening to it alert for some deeper, non-existent, truth. It's the kind of music that has produced a generation of rapgenius users that type essays on Kid Cudi lyrics in the annotations. Childish Gambino represents the other side of garbage hip-hop. His punchlines are the definition of cheesy, anyone who quotes a Childish Gambino lyric only comes across as lame and virgin. His lines seem so much slicker than they really are, its the kind of thing that reeks of teenage angst and self discovery. Only someone that is inexperienced in life will turn to Childish Gambino for advice and entertainment. The rest of us have discovered better forms of entertainment.

i don't even like Camp, but its really the type of music that prevents people from liking rap at all, quite the opposite in fact.
