What's the point in believing in God? Like, is there a purpose? I don't get it. (Keep this shit argument free.)

I mean really, They say do all this good shit and no bad if you want to go to heaven, I mean I do all this good stuff but what do I get in return? My Dad dies, WTF?
I know how you feel, but that's a bad argument.
I see it as when I die were would I rather wanna go I wanna go to Heaven,I'm not a strict uptight Religious nut I just pray and I'm saved which I did myself.I live a ok life could live better but I feel God isn't gonna judge me for every damn thing and damn me to Hell. The thing is no one has ever came back from the dead and said shit this happened or wtv it's just left unknown,it's up to belief.Hope you find some belief and as far as Church that really turns people away from Religon.
Once I realize that you can't depend on other humans and times not even yourself, you become more open to the idea of God. From there you try to develop a relationship because you believe that He has your interest at heart. You do all these good things to strengthen the relationship, so you can begin to to walk in his destiny for you, if we acknowledge His existence I can't really begin to believe I know my life and concerns better than Him. At least that is how I see it.
OK, answer this
What good things have god done to you?

I will say that for the last 2 years my mom had no job. Once I got people at church and myself to pray consistently about it 3 months after-wards, she finally got a job. That's the only thing that changed within the last few months before the 2 years. So I attribute that blessing as God's work.

LOL, so you actually think that was because of god? ...

Yeah to be frank. Its the only thing that changed in the last few months. Vs 2 years of my mom being overqualified + having connects and getting no where before. I am think I personally will chalk that up to God.

How could that be because of god?

Before Consistent Group Praying

No job for 2 years even though being od qualified etc

Since praying

3 months after-wards moved to do job.

Again before no work, after work. It was something I consciously prayed about. I can attribute it to God to answering my prayers.

It can look like coincidence but for me in the situation it is more than just coincidence to me.
if you believe in God and you're wrong then you're dead the end.

if you are an athiest and you are right then you're dead the end.

if you believe in God and you're right then you go to heaven.

if you are an athiest and you're wrong then you go to hell, wishing it was the end.

either way, have fun!!!!

Why not? Isn't it basically your duty as a Christian to help people understand the word of God?
I don't think that's really how it works.
The thing about atheists, that I don't understand... is... do you all really believe that we humans are able to govern ourselves and at the same time live peacefully? You really think it's possible that as human beings, we can live in this universe all by ourselves with no higher guiding, and be peaceful?

Do you believe the difference between the U.S. sending a nuclear missile over at Russia and not doing is was "because if felt like the right thing to do?"

You all might not feel me on this, but I have a hard time believing that we live in the state we live in without higher governing.

it depends. i think with religion in the beginning was that it helped balanced us on good and evil.
it made us understood that there our consequences for our actions in a way.
if we lived in a world never questioning death or what our purpose is in our life then there would be nothing to fear after, there would be no consequences for our wrong doings and therefore there would be no reason to have remorse or morals for being evil.
Religion doesn't = morals. Which isn't to say that people don't use religion as a catalyst for their morals. We won't even get started on the relativity of the concept of evil, but good and evil don't necessarily correlate with religion either.

what the fuck are you even going on about?

if i understand you correctly... you're saying, 'god must exist because without a god a peaceful world doesn't exist'.  but yo... a peaceful world doesn't exist
No, I'm saying "God must exist because without a God we would have long since eliminated each other".
Ah, always nice to see a little rhetoric here and there.

And I'm saying that "God" is nothing more than an invention created by the weak to give us hope that our miserable nothings of an existence isn't the only thing that is there.  And religion has been used as an oppressor by the upper echelon for centuries.  It is not God that prevents us from eliminating each other, it's the fear of what this figment of our imagination will do to us, and what the repercussions of committing sin will be that keeps us in line.  Religion is truly one of the best inventions man has conjured up, better than laws, better than the fuckin iPad.
