What's the point in believing in God? Like, is there a purpose? I don't get it. (Keep this shit argument free.)
believing in God gives you faith in all good things i suppose.WestFan said:What's the point in believing in God? Like, is there a purpose? I don't get it. (Keep this shit argument free.)
The fact that we use God to give our lives meaning/comfort can be independent of His existence/non-existence. The two arguments are not necessarily related. So yeah, maybe people do use Him for comfort their minds, but that doesn't automatically mean He doesn't exist.Ye24 said:i think 95% of people need to believe in their minds that there is a higher power that like a few said before "give their lives purpose". and also people need comfort in their minds about whats going to happen when they die, and people who believe in got tend to believe in heaven

It's hard to tell, obviously, but I think we would have developed much more as a race by now if we weren't subjected to the vast limitations and ignorance that seems to come with religion. We still wouldn't have some sort of perfect society and totally equal and fair way of life, but there would a hell of a lot less destruction and death.Wake Up Mr. West said:despite popular belief i think the world would be in just as much chaos if there was no religion.
it depends. i think with religion in the beginning was that it helped balanced us on good and evil.SuperDuper_C said:It's hard to tell, obviously, but I think we would have developed much more as a race by now if we weren't subjected to the vast limitations and ignorance that seems to come with religion. That's doesn't really answer my question.IQ said:Westfan: The point of believing is that, if you believe in Him, and believe what is in the Bible, how could you not follow him? It wouldn't make any sense. God offers salvation, which is something every Christian wants.
Yes. I choose not to believe in a god because of the fact that I rather think that everything happens by chance or science, and not by some invisible man in the sky.LycKay said:Is there a purpose in NOmT believing in god?

"seperated from the life of God, salvation come when we believe by faith in the completed work of Jesus at the cross where Jesus died on a cross to take away the sins of the whole world never to see them again, when we believe in this truth by faith we are raised from our spiritual death to life eternal, this is what salvation is all about being born again"WestFan said:What's the point in believing in God? you are too ignorant... there is no need to discuss with youWestFan said:Basically, if I believe in some that some guy died for my sins on a cross, I will go to a place in the sky?
