Otis- Materialistic Lyrics

Do the materialistic lyrics on Otis bother you?

I've been reading comments/blog post reviews and they're have been quite a few who are upset that they mostly rap about how rich they are. I don't understand why it would bother someone so much. Ironically if bothers you does that mean you are jealous. I may not have all the money in the world, but it doesn't bother me that Jay and Ye have more

I don't know why people expect something other than Kanye + Jay-Z boasting.
On this particular track, ye and Jay are doing what every other rapper does- rap about money! But Ye and Jay are doing it in a more classy way, and they do it coz this shit sells! But rest assured there will be some deep shit on others tracks from wtt, its only logical!

So no one sees the difference between good materialistic lyricism and bad materialistic lyricism?

WTT has the latter, so far. It's just lazy.
I made “Jesus Walks” I’m never going to hell
Couture level flow, it’s never going on sale
Luxury rap, the Hermes of verses
Sophisticated ignorance, write my curses in cursive

and

Flee in the G450 I might surface
Political refugee, asylum can be purchased
Uh, everythings for sale, I got 5 passports
I’m never going to jail

Don't sound lazy to me

Not really, It's the truth that they are really good rappers, so they are stating that. I don't personally like Materialistic stuff either but I don't care if Jay and Ye are talking it. But Kanye and Jay usually don't do that much so they are doing do it now. But yeah like somebody said, it is called watch the throne, they are embracing the king in themselves, I don't think it is about being rich though, more about being famous.
man u cant always listen to some crazy deep song about poverty its depressing, a fun im better than u song every now and then keeps things fun.

Nah, I'd say that it's useless waste of verses. It has nothing to do with being jealous. It's just empty words that most people cannot relate to. Lyrics that bring out feelings and emotions are priceless. This discussion on wealth is not even a try to reach out to the listeners. If it's that big of a deal to Jay & Ye, then fine. I just wish they'd have something meaningful to say. Them being rich means nothing to me.
this is how i feel about most rap music tbh

eazy-e is one of few exceptions i make

Jays lyrics were kinda lazy imo, any writer, good or bad, can tell it was lazy. its obviously not done also. if it is, wtf was Ye thinking, that overdrive on Jays voice is wayyyy too loud & needs to be cleaner. D:
****** ackin like legends like Big Daddy Kane and Biggie went materialistic nearly all the damn time

this is what I hate about rap fans. they praise biggie and tupac rapping about money, but hate on newer rappers doing the same.
