Been wanting to make this thread for a while now. There have been other threads like it in the past, but seeing how Rock/Indie fam has changed in the past year or so, I think it would be nice to have an official home base thread for this.

!!! RULES !!!

• Only rank discographies that you've heard all of (in terms of studio albums anyway, you don't need to have heard every EP, comp, etc)

• If you'd like to include EPs, compilations, demos, live albums, collaborations, etc., you are more than welcome to!

• Exceptions to the "only discogs you've heard all of" rule can be made when an artist's library is extremely large (e.g., Frank Zappa) — Let's say about 20-25 albums, and you have to rank at least 15 of any artist with a discog greater than that

Have fun and let me know if this is a good idea, haha! :h5: :salute:

Blackstar 7.5-8/10 (don't want to rate it too high, just because he died but I can't help feeling that I get the album better now that I know what it was all about. Especially the title track has grown on me immensely. I'm just being blasphemous rn and claim that it's as good as Station To Station (the song))

Big Star/ Alex Chilton:

#1 Record 8/10
Radio City 9/10
Third 10/10

Like Flies on Sherbert 9/10
Bachs Bottom 7/10
Behind The Magnolia Curtain (Panther Burns) 7.5/10 (really the crown jewel of this band were their conceptual live shows 79-81)
Live in London 8/10
High Priest 5/10
Cliches 5/10
A Man Called Destruction 5.5/10
Cubist Blues w/ Alan Vega and Ben Vaughn 8/10

Really his solo albums after Panther Burns aren't worth listening to- mostly just covers and not deconstructing them in a transgressive way like on Like Flies on Sherbert. Around this time he claimed he enjoyed working as a bar-back and playing rhythm guitar anonymously for bar bands more than recording music. Although, his jams with Alan Vega and Ben Vaughn that led to the making of Cubist Blues are one great thing his career after 81 yielded.
