Idris Elba's Luther Comissioned For A Third Series

Idris Elba might not have wowed the majority with his singing last week but the second series of his BBC drama Luther had critics purring and following months of speculation it was revealed today that the detective will return for a third series.
While the original plan was reportedly to turn Idris Elba's popular hard-boiled Luther character into a Hollywood movie, it's been confirmed today that following a critically acclaimed second series earlier this year, the detective will return to screens for a third series next year.
Elba who famously played Stringer Bell in cult TV series The Wire has been busy in Hollywood over the past few years but the reaction to Luther, including US syndication, has inspired the London born actor to stick with the character. Speaking to The Sun Idris offered "I was blown away by the reaction to series two. People really got on board and getting an Emmy nomination for Luther is the icing on the cake. We're looking at returning with some equally great storylines and characters - and hopefully an Emmy award."
