This album is going to be great, but I am not sure in what kind of Lupe we're getting yet.
Fahrenheit 1-3 Lupe was raw lyrical mastery, crapping on everybody, and some story/concept songs here and there to give a sneak peak to his song writing ability.
F+L - The Cool Lupe is the perfect blend of raw lyrical mastery but still shows he can crap on everybody. They lyricism was more focused and had more of a message behind it. Probably my favorite type of Lu JUST BY A LITTLE BIT BECAUSE FAHRENHEIT LU WENT IN.
EOTS Lu = Back on his Fahrenheit ish. No real story telling or concept, just swag rapping but in a lyrical well. It was a breath of fresh air to hear Lupe actually being...cocky.
Lasers Lu = I dunno what we're getting. Lupe said he put out EOTS to show he still had them crazy lyrics because "there's not a whole lot of that on Lasers". so now we get to the word no Lupe fan wants to hear.................DUMBED DOWN, but is that neccessarily bad? Lyrically he'll still be there, but he just won't blow your mind like that. This album is going to be more about painting emotional pictures into the listeners soul I think. Just going by a song like What You Want and the sneak peak to "When I Get There". To me that represents growth. It's a conscious decision of his to cut back on the triple entendres, mind bending double meanings, etc, to have a clear and direct line of communication with the listener.
F+L 2 TGARA Lu = If I told you I was more hyped for Lasers than I am for this, I would be a LIAR. The reality is that so far I like Go To Sleep better than any song I've heard from "Lasers era Lu" so far. Lyrically he destroys this and as a sequel to F+L I'd imagine it is going to follow in the same vein and be raw lyricism + story telling + concepts = overall dopeness.
