Kanye West is ahead of his time, sometimes years out. No statement signifies that more than his 2013 interview of BBC's Zane Lowe, when he said quite simply: "Rap is the new rock & roll. We the new rock stars, and I'm the biggest of them all. I'm the No. 1 rock star on the planet." People scoffed, and laughed. Twitter created memes. Metal heads were angered, but time has proven that Kanye West was 100% correct in his assessment. In a world completely devoid of true rock stars, Kanye West is truly number one, and is the modern day equivalent to none other than Axl Rose.

Meltdowns
Kanye West: We are told Kanye is "melting down" and losing his mind because he screams at some people backstage at SNL. This apparently makes him a "diva" and a "psycho."

Axl Rose: One of the most infamous moments in rock history occurred in 1991 in St. Louis, when Axl Rose was enraged by a fan filming the concert in the front row, so he proceeded to jump into the crowd and fight the man, thus putting an immediate end to the concert. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOXDbMne6Ek) In 1992, Guns N' Roses was on a headlining tour with Metallica, who had to cut their set short after a pyrotechnics mishap burned lead singer James Hetfield. Guns N' Roses performed next, but Axl abruptly left the stage and ended the show after about 50 minutes after complaining the sound tuning in the monitors was off and also that he had a sore throat. This led to another riot, similar to the St. Louis incident. In 2006, Guns N' Roses opening band Eagles of Death Metal showed up 30 minutes late for their set. Axl promptly kicked them off the tour, and told the crowd during GNR's set that the "pigeons of shit metal" would never prform with GNR ever again. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lUEMI-fMbo)

Controversial statements
Kanye West: GEORGE BUSH DOESN'T CARE ABOUT BLACK PEOPLE.

Axl Rose: On the song "One In a Million" in 1987, Axl infamously sings the lyrics that warns "n**gers" to "get out of my way" and complains about "s who spread some fucking disease." Axl later said he wasn't using the N-Word as a racist term, but "a word to describe somebody that is basically a pain in your life, a problem. The word doesn't necessarily mean black." In terms of gays, he blamed "bad experiences" with gay men in the past as the reason for the lyrics, but he later changed his views and performed with Elton John at the 1992 VMA Awards.

Taking shots at the press
Kanye West: "To Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, New York Times, and any other white publication. Please do not comment on black music anymore."

Axl Rose: On Use Your Illusion II, Axl Rose penned Get in the Ring, a song aimed at those who had negatively reviewed the band's music or actions on stage. Mentioned by name were Andy Sechter of Hit Parader, **** Wall from Kerrang! and Spin's Bob Guccione Jr. (Axl famously said he was mad because his father - the founder of Penhouse magazine - "gets more pussy" than Guccione).

Feuds with peers
Kanye West: We were told Kanye was "crazy" and "losing his mind" because of his Twitter tirade against Wiz Khalifa. Interesting…

Axl Rose: After Guns N' Roses had been called "scumbags" by Jon Bon Jovi in 1987, Axl Rose went on stage at a concert the next night and told the crowd that "Bon Jovi can suck my dick" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aY6t6Zl69HE). In the early 90s, Nirvana declined an invitation to open for GNR on tour. This pissed Axl off, and the two sides traded shots in the press. At the 1992 VMA's, Courtney Love taunted Axl backstage and Axl looked at Cobain and told him to "shut his bitch up" and threatened Kurt to fight him while Kurt was holding his baby daughter. (http://www.waaf.com/blogs/waaf-news/nirvanas-vma-nightmare-kurt-vs-axl-47616) - Axl also had feuds throughout the years with lead singers such as Vince Neil of Motley Crue and James Hetfield of Metallica.

Feuds with non-peers
Kanye West: We all know by now about his feud with Taylor Swift, having interrupted her at the VMA's and talk about her in his new song Famous. His feud with Nike is well-known, having attacked them at concerts, on Twitter and in his songs.

Axl Rose: In 2006, Axl Rose got into it with famed designer Tommy Hilfiger at a nightclub after performing for actress Rosario Dawson's birthday. The two shoved each other and traded punches before being pulled apart. Later in 2006, Axl was arrested for biting a security guard in the leg in Stockholm, Sweden. In 1998, he was arrested at Phoenix's Sky Harbor Airport for threatening to punch an airport security guard.

Next time when people tell you Kanye is crazy you say no, he's not crazy. He's a rock star. THE MOTHERFUCKING #1 ROCK STAR ON THE PLANET.

what does this even mean?
Kanye is himself. Not the new version of anything, not the black version of anything, not the old version or male version of anything.

Kanye West is Kanye West.
