I do not get this cult following rocky seems to have. He heavily relies on visuals not music. People think purple swag is iconic but thats cause of the music video not the song, if it even is. Can literally only remember the lyrics "swag swag" and I just recently gave it a spin again. Production on his early shit was carried by clams casino while rocky just babbled generic lyrics over it. Alla was at the time trash. The best song on it turned out to be just a bones cover. Not original. His stans have been trying to market it as a classic after like a year, which I find hilarious. I won't even mention the other album. What am I missing? Rocky stans what is it that makes you listen to his music? His "swag"? His production? Can't be his lyrics. His delivery ain't special either. What makes him top 5? Do you honestly believe he is top 5?

There's no point tryna discuss this because I can tell from the post in op it's not going anywhere
Just answer the questions then. Obviously you won't convince me. Barely anyone gets convinced by an argument. Show your point of view. Right now my view of the Rocky stan is based upon what I've seen so far on page one. Is that an accurate representation?

I think he's good but definitely overrated. The beatz and flows are nice but lyrics are subpar. His appealing aesthetics and aura of confidence make certain people believe that his music is better than it really is. Although I disagree with you about ALLA. Really great project in my opinion.
First real reply, thanks

He has some of the best beat selection in the game

He has more vision than almost any rapper with his projects and consistently aims above the bar - see testing. He couldve easily released an album of Praise the Lord type songs and been hugely successful but he picked to try and push the genre forward by experimenting.

ALLA is an incredible project. I guarantee you can't name me an album that sounds similar. It takes the style he popularized and combines that with 70s rock and more to create this psychedelic dreamy vibe. Canal Street is one of the best songs and it's not a cover when everything he does on the track is new.

His flow is one of the best ever period. Listen to a track like excuse me and listen to how casual he sounds and the emphasis he puts on his delivery with it still sounding like butter. Flow isn't about rapping fast.

His lyrics are underrated. There's a ton of quotables on ALLA and a fair amount of conscious lyricism on ALLA and testing. Also keep in mind that he really popularized a lot of what SoundCloud rappers rap about nowadays.

He's incredibly influential. Live Love basically laid the blueprint for a huge portion of rap this decade.

He sets up an incredibly strong aesthetic with his projects, his videos are also top notch and quite frankly the music is great
