I need help recovering photos! *need all the help I can get*

My sister handed me her psp which had a memory card in it. There were pictures of her graduation in that memory card. I tried puting music onto the memory card so when she has the memory card in her psp, she can play the music that's on it. I copied and pasted the music, and it didn't work. I then formatted the memory card via the psp. I tried putting music onto it and it worked! That was great but when I formatted the memory card, the photos were deleted. I'm terribly saddened by this. I tried this program called Recuva. It's a program that restored deleted files. There hasn't been any luck with that program. ANY suggestions on what I can do? Any help is much appreciated.
