and then after each level he keeps the ally and can select which one he wants to use

for example you find cudi on the 808s level but can keep him with you on the MBDTF level if you want, or switch him out for Pusha when you get him

i know its not as easy as it sounds but would be hard as bricks

My rough idea would have Ye find the spaceship like halfway through the chapter, he tries to fly away and he crashes it - screen goes black, he wakes up in hospital with a broken jaw and has to find the lost parts as collectibles to rebuild the ship. Maybe have to fight a boss to get the final part.
