August 2013: on Frank Ocean-assisted "Sunday" track from Earl Sweatshirts debut album "Doris" Frank delivered a couple shots back at Chris Brown regarding the brawl outside of Frank's studio:
"Forgot you don't like it rough, I mean he called me a *****
I was just calling his bluff
I mean how anal am I gon' be / When I'm aiming my gun
And why's his mug all bloody, that was a three-on-one?
Standing ovation and Staples I got my Grammys and gold."

March 2014: Nabil Elderkin, who directed "Pyramids," "Novacane" and "Swim Good," uploaded an Instagram photo
"Frank in the lab.. Making sophomore album game."
of Frank brooding in the recording studio. Frank then releases his Converse collaboration "Hero.":

November 2014: Frank shares "Memrise" teaser snippet via his Tumblr page. In addition, he shares the song's lyrics:

Frank Ocean - Memrise (Lyrics)

I memorized the wayward expressions
Never look down
Never let you see me down
I memorized the way no directions
Can I come over now
I'd like to stay a little while
I memorized your body exposed
I could f*ck you all night long
From a memory alone

I never forget a face
Don't go plastic on me
Nothing's set in stone
You're not dipped in gold
Dipped in gold
You can't breathe if you're dipped in gold
You are not on paper
You are not a copy
You're so, you're so..so thick, so thick

December 2014: An image of Frank and Lil B shows up
The Based One himself unveils the picture through his infamous Twitter account, hinting at "new music" from the unlikely pair.

April 2015: The singer announces his second studio album, titled Boys Don't Cry. He uploaded a legendary photo of himself gazing at two stacks of magazines with the same title. Billboard then confirmed that a new album and zine would arrive in July(2016?).

"'I got two versions. I got twoooo versions.' #ISSUE1 #ALBUM3 #JULY2015 #BOYSDONTCRY."

May 2015: French pianist-composer Chassol, who've linked up with Frank for the album, spoke up about his experience with the enigmatic artist:

"Ocean invited me to Abbey Road to record on his album. I asked him when I came, 'how he heard about me?' He told me his friend Diplo was listening a lot to Indiamore, and they started to listen to it, and they were wondering how I was doing the speech harmonization, so he called me. He asked me to do some speech harmonization on a song with him. After a while, it was cool and he was like, 'yeah, but we have to find another way because you already did it.' The guy is smart. He's really smart. The way he works in the studio is really cool. He has a printer, he has a lot of pictures of architecture, contemporary art, a lot of pictures of different kinds of things. So we start to work on a track and he says, this track is this-that car that you can see. He makes me work on a song, and I'm like, 'oh this sounds like Pino Donaggio's score for 'Blow Out', by Brian Depalma. I start to work on a song and five minutes later on the pro-tools screen you have the movie, the score, stretched to fit the song-just to try. I've never worked with that much money in music. It's good sometimes to have money, because you can try things...At some point, a guy came into the studio, a guy with a long beard. We start talking and then he leaves and they tell me it's Rick Rubin! I didn't know the guy! Sometimes I'm the only one who doesn't know the things."

July 2015: Surprise. Boys Don't Cry album was not released. Deception. Sadness everywhere. :cryfam:

August 2015: During his site's redesign, it appears that Frank may have accidentally leaked a few images of the merch:

February 2016: We learn that Frank will appear on Kanye West's latest LP, The Life Of Pablo with "Frank's Track":

March 2016: Frank Ocean's close collaborator and Zayn Malik's new go-to producer Malay reveals a little more information regarding Frank's highly-anticipated next album. He hints at an "exploration of different vibes."

"A lot of the stuff on this new album was done with a handheld mic sitting in the control room," Malay says of the upcoming release. "Frank's exploring different vibes completely on this album. I wouldn't say it's vocally looser but just his mentality; it doesn't seem as meticulous at certain times."
"I always tell people: When he's ready, the world is gonna get it. It could be tomorrow… well not tomorrow but maybe a month [laughs]. We've all been working hard. He's been working super hard. I feel like he's working harder than he's ever worked in his life. I'm excited for everyone to hear it. I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised, for sure."

2016: James Blake states he has heard Frank's new album, claims it's better than its predecessor, channel. ORANGE.

June 2016: False alarm:

June 2016: Friend and collaborator Lil B shares that he has found the enigmatic artist. That alone was newsworthy.

June 2016: Frank pens an emotional letter on the massacre at Pulse's Orlando nightclub:
on June 12:

I read in the paper that my brothers are being thrown from rooftops blindfolded with their hands tied behind their backs for violating sharia law. I heard the crowds stone these fallen men if they move after they hit the ground. I heard it's in the name of God. I heard my pastor speak for God too, quoting scripture from his book. Words like abomination popped off my skin like hot grease as he went on to describe a lake of fire that God wanted me in. I heard on the news that the aftermath of a hate crime left piles of bodies on a dance floor this month. I heard the gunman feigned dead among all the people he killed. I heard the news say he was one of us. I was six years old when I heard my dad call our transgender waitress a as he dragged me out a neighborhood diner saying we wouldn't be served because she was dirty. That was the last afternoon I saw my father and the first time I heard that word, I think, although it wouldn't shock me if it wasn't. Many hate us and wish we didn't exist. Many are annoyed by our wanting to be married like everyone else or use the correct restroom like everyone else. Many don't see anything wrong with passing down the same old values that send thousands of kids into suicidal depression each year. So we say pride and we express love for who and what we are. Because who else will in earnest? I daydream on the idea that maybe all this barbarism and all these transgressions against ourselves is an equal and opposite reaction to something better happening in this world, some great swelling wave of openness and wakefulness out here. Reality by comparison looks grey, as in neither black nor white but also bleak. We are all God's children, I heard. I left my siblings out of it and spoke with my maker directly and I think he sounds a lot like myself. If I being myself were more awesome at being detached from my own story in a way I being myself never could be. I wanna know what others hear, I'm scared to know but I wanna know what everyone hears when they talk to God. Do the insane hear the voice distorted? Do the indoctrinated hear another voice entirely?

July 2017: A graphic posted on his Tumblr page; indicates that the album will release in July 2016:

WE MADE IT :rejoice:
