...in my eyes. Although stuff does grow on me.
Graduation: Barry Bonds. Drunk and Hot Girls is pretty ok, but Barry Bonds is just a clunker for me. And even if you want to argue that it isn't that bad, let's face it, Stronger, I Wonder, Flashing Lights...in another league. Now, I consider those three songs to be in his top ten, so I don't expect all top ten caliber songs, but every good song ranges from good-really good and is better. And I am not a fan of Good Night either, but I haven't really listened to it enough. There is a difference between a great song that doesn't appeal to me and a bad song that doesn't appeal to me. I think Barry Bonds falls into the latter category, and the majority of people I have heard don't like it.
808s: This is arguably his most consistent album, and I like every single track except...parts of Bad News. Just parts. The end >>> beginning. I just feel like every other song is more...ehh, beautiful? But besides that, it is a perfect album
LR and CD are tough because while some songs clearly stand out being better than others, I don't think there are really bad songs. I am not a fan of School Spirit and Graduation Day is more like a skit I guess. But I know these are liked/love, and majority opinion is relevant. I think the skits are funny, and actually better on CD...a debut album with his story, necessary to have the skits I think. And on LR I think they work too...these are pretty solid if you can forgive skits and some shorter songs that are kind of awkward for me personally.
So for MBDTF, I want basically every song to be good-masterpiece. I don't want any one song to stick out as the sour thumb, the "ok" song...(I don't want to start the debate, but maybe it is necessary to mention...I fear "See Me Now"...then again I haven't heard it in a while). I don't want skits, I don't want remixes of songs unless they are bonus tracks (Diamonds). I want 18 all different great songs. Are my expectations disgustingly high? Absolutely.
