"Tipsy" was perfectly pop sounding. He doesn't have the label endorsement to do anything right now. Shady Records is building up Royce as their new co-star for Em. By doing that Em is also exposing and promoting Slaughterhouse. My guess is Joe will get his turn eventually.
I totally agree. BUT, Joey has been rapping for a long, long time. He had his chance to do his own thing at Amalgam. And, he could have definitely hooked up with some dope producers and made some dope, "pop" records.
Joey is great at what he does. However, I think a true artist can't just be one dimensional. Or, even two dimensional. For example, artists like 'pac or em, and even wayne can make music for any type of mood, person, setting, etc.
Amalgam was a brand new label and Joe was practically their first signing... Seems like a nightmare for any rapper... but Joe actually became more popular than he's ever been from going to some small-time indie like Amalgam.. I think he did the most he could at Amalgam...
If Joe had a major his whole career... he'd be a top tier rapper in everyone's mind...
lol joe had pump it up, fire, focus was huge on the club scene POPPIN in NY.
he had his little commercial success, hes lived off that pump it up money, he don't like that shit tho. he was young and the label pushed him to make those songs, but even with that said, u gotta have some. After all that shit he just went back to his own style, but u can't say hes incapable of making a hit, hes done it, proved it, and doesn't give a fuck about it anymore.
