Can we dead the rumor that Big Sean wrote for Graduation once and for all?

A) He has no credits on it, Kanye is VERY generous with giving credits on his albums for whoever contributed.

B) Big Sean first met Kanye when Kanye was playing the album for people at a radio station! It was already done before he even knew Kanye.

This "rumor" is actually fact. The problem is that people, for whatever reason, can't discern the differences in someone's writing being used/credited on an album and someone helping/submitting input for an album.

Big Sean was most definitely there in the studio with Kanye during the production of Graduation. There's a video floating around somewhere that shows behind the scenes clips of the Graduation era, like when Ye played Big Brother for Jay-Z a while back. One of the clips shown is of a Black woman (can't remember the singer's name) and Big Sean next to her sitting on a chair and they are trying to write the bridge and background vocals for "Champion."

The girl then starts singing her idea out loud to see if the others approve, going "this is the story of a champion... Stand up stand up, here he comes..." The way Kanye and many other artists work with teams is that 4 or 5 writers will be assigned the task of making a certain part of a song. Then either each writer submits their ideas over and over again until one gets approved, or all the writers form a consensus on one idea an submit it to the main artist or executive producer.

It's pretty safe to conclude that Big Sean did in fact work on Graduation but none of his ideas were implemented, therefore he has no credits on the album.

And this isn't ghostwriting either. It kind f is but it's much more subtle and has very minor effect on the final product. Kanye has never used a ghostwriter in the more commonly referred to sense where one or two people other than the main artist writes an entire verse or song.

What's your source for this info?

Because I have done extensive research into the whole ghostwriting taboo in music, especially in hip hop, and it all started with the accusations again Kanye. I have since concluded that all of these accusations have been harshly dealt by people completely ignorant of the subject and Kanye's work ethic and routine.

I don't think it's "ghostwriting" since he's credited as a co-producer, but most people probably think it was Ye that wrote both verses

You also extremely misinterpreted what said in the video. The narrator said that Kanye met Consequence in 2005 and later on signed Big Sean in 2007 after they met while playing Kanye's album at the radio station in Detroit.

An accurate interpretation of this would be that they were playing Late Registration at the radio station after signing Cons and the albums release in 2005/2006. Then Sean went to the station and rapped for Kanye, who then offered him a "job" working on his next album and then Kanye signed him after finishing Grad in 2007. This is very similar to what happened with Cudi and 808's. Kanye gave Cudi a job helping with 808's then signed him later on.

Nowhere in that portion of the video does it say Kanye was playing Graduation when Sean and him first met. This is further disproven by the video I mentioned in my previous post that shows Sean working in the studio during Grad's recording.

I'll admit the wording may be a bit weird to the average viewer, but you just have to learn how to effectively and immediately recognize the phrasing journalists use and the context.

I'm not convinced any one other than Rhymefest and Yusef  and Consequence for one song have written for Kanye.

The way Kanye credits people just doesn't add up to him having ghost writers. I mean Lupe had no clue what Black skinhead was about even though he has writing credits lol.

Kanye doesn't write his own lyrics lol when are y'all gonna realize that? When Kanye writes his own lyrics we get shit like I Won, Bound 2 and Drunk In Love Remix.
He certainly does create the bulk of his own lyrics, occasionally using input from a team he employs during production. But Kanye has only actually pre-written his lyrics on paper one time, which was for MBDTF.
