Same with Serbian, all the languages with their own alphabet hard to translate (except Hebrew, that is not THAT hard)

Thought people here needed that word only. I don't wanna ask someone indirectly(who I don't know at all, through some friends I haven't seen in ages) to translate the whole song for me.
And it's also important to say that people that were asked are Israeli Ethiopians (I don't know any others lol), so I don't know how fluent they really are bc most likely their native in Hebrew.

:)
cool, maximum respect for going to all the effort

yeah tbh even abel said in an interview jus because u can speak it doesnt mean u understand it
Tbh I think he meant poetry, something about his mum reading poetry in Amharic and how hard it was for him to understand it
But srsly, I think it could be applied to any language...poetry relies on metaphors so for someone who's not completely fluent, or even for someone who's native it could be hard to understand

They just don't get it.
Why?
edit: One thing about languages in general is that it's not the same for someone whose native is English, and someone whose native is...idk, Russian, to learn another language. (depends on the language they want to learn and their native language.

This is for example language difficulty ranking for native English speakers. As you can see, Amharic and Serbian (my language) are in the same difficulty category for native English speakers

thought he said that about his grandma playing Ethiopian/Amharic songs while he was a child and him not really understanding everything?

Maybe, I know it was something related to family member/songs/poetry and him not understanding.

I was referring to the poster of "So, noone speaks Ethiopian/Amharic in this sxn?"
Ah, OK, didn't get that, sorry. I just hate when someone assumes I'm stupid in languages and I speak 3 (two of them have their own alphabet, so I have to know how to read and write too)

that's so true tho. i can understand amharic when being spoken to for the most part but listening to amharic in music is nearly impossible if it's not your first language.
