Nah it's a total declaration of his newfound certitude in life thanks to Kim and his new family. He's reclaiming his happiness in life: after the album's anxious and depraved narrative, "Bound 2" tells how Kanye's relationship with Kim is (perhaps) the only aspect of his life where he's completely content and feels like nothing can go wrong.

The video itself exemplifies this tone and narrative. Not to mention during his 2014 "Summer Run" festival performances, he ended his sets with the song and sang it while Kim walked from the crowd's tech booth towards the main stage with a spotlight following her along the way. (Kanye was essentially giving off the image of him singing the song directly to her and only to her, despite being surrounded by thousands of people.)

Even on the off-chance that Kanye was doing things like that as a public image illusion — and to some degree he definitely was since it was obviously calculated — that doesn't take away from the song's purpose.

Great post fam. Really puts it in perspective with the music video and concerts.

However, you don't think Bound 2 is as anxious and depraved as the rest of the album?

Dont you feel like Bound 2 doesnt have that dungeon feeling like the rest of the album is a little more bright sounding and more of a callback to old school Ye?

Eh, in minor ways (e.g., suggesting a threesome/desires for other women despite being married), but the bulk of it is just highlighting the "Kanye version" of common relationship struggles, but only the trivial kind of struggles that can be easily moved past because of how in love Kanye is claiming to be. Little arguments here and there, difficulties balancing professional and family life (he can't remember where/when they first met), et cetera; but those things don't undermine his passion for Kim and their relationship.

Musically it's the opposite of anxious and depraved.

It feels like a manufactured Hot 100 hit with no heart or emotion to it. Like he wanted to put that trademark Yeezy soul into it; but didn't have any soul left. Very robotic and cold

Not a knock on the quality of the song BTW

I kinda see what you mean :oh:
In a way it kind of puts his career in perspective like where he's at
" Henny dont kill the pain no more" type of life he might be living at this point
