Best media player alternatives to iTunes?

681 Views 25 Replies 15 Participants Last post by  ThePromKing
My only requirements are that I can transfer my music from iTunes to this program without having any of the files, tags and covers mess up. I also want to be able to copy/paste album art and transfer music to my iPod Touch.

If you guys can post your suggestion and also the best way to transfer everything, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

All I use is iTunes. I have Zune media player but that's just for putting music on my Zune.
What do you guys think of MediaMonkey? Can I transfer everything and still sync my iPod?
Spotify. Even the free version is worth it. It will add all your music for you and then of course you can create your own library with their database. It's basically iTunes but you dont have to dl any music it's all there for you to listen to
foobar. I don't remember if it uses covers though.

MediaMonkey is a great player, especially if you have a large music library.

I've don't own an iPod, but synching them through MM is possible.

I haven't used MediaMonkey in about a year, but I do remember it automatically downloading album covers from the web. I'm pretty sure you can copy paste artwork from a local file, but I'm not sure the same thing applies to images from the web. My suggestion would be to install MediaMonkey and test out the iPod synching and cover art with one album. If it doesn't work, you haven't wasted much time and can uninstall the program.

Simple and versatile.
You can actually download an earlier version (before it became ad supported)

I Use spotify, but only because I listen to A LOT (30,000+ songs) of music. It is a music streaming service, similar to Rhapsody
