Not really that big of a deal to me, this plot has been done many times, probably even before Pocahontas.

Avatar wasn't perfect, but it was great visually and the acting and plot were decent. Wouldn't consider it anywhere near my top 50 films though

It's Pochahantas mixed with Fern Gully. Doesn't make it any less of a technological marvel though.

If you think about it almost everything that's come out in the last 20 years is either inspired by or owes alot to something else that came before it.
