He's probably alluding more to the steak being a dead cow rather than the fries being something dead, but I guess a potatoe dies when you pull it out of the earth and fry it

I think Lupe meant that when someone eat steak or fries the taste quickly dies meaning it doesn't have no after taste. Notice how after that bar he says "But they will Post-Taste" or he prob said haste but 'Post-Taste' makes more since!

So I'm guess he relating that to his lyrics meaning that when you listen to his music it might not seem deep or have substance but when understand it completely you will come back for more and more so it never dies!
