Easily one of the best and most talented directors working today. By the time his career is over, I believe Paul Thomas Anderson has the ability to be considered the the greatest director of all time.

His films:

Hard Eight

Boogie Nights

Magnolia

Punch-Drunk Love

There Will Be Blood

Expected films:

The Master

Inherent Vice

There Will Be Blood.

Near flawless in every category. While I'm not wild about the acting, the score and the cinematography are Kubrickian.

I do love Boogie Nights as a close second. That extended shot of Mark Whalberg's face while 'Jesse's Girl' is playing always gets me.

I feel the same, but what about the acting are you not wild about? I know some aren't crazy for Paul Dano's turn as Eli, but I felt his sort of insanity and over dramatization was necessary to convey the character.

Magnolia is a close 2nd.

I love PDL, but it's too anxiety inducing for me to watch often. It's kind of a difficult watch. That is to PTA's credit, because that anxiety is what he intended. Strangely, he almost did too good of a job.

It's funny you say, "Strangely, he almost did too good a job." Could you elaborate on that?

My list but it's all pretty close. PTA is the man. I really want that new movie to be made

The use of color in this film and how it all represents Barry's anger and potential conquest over his anger, really impressed me. This was a perfect blueprint on how to express the dynamics of a relationship through visuals instead of words.

**** what a tough choice. I think TWBB is a masterpiece, but PDL has a strange hold on me. It may be helped by the fact that it's my first PTA film.

Very interesting backstory on the artist that made those color transitions.

Great article. I'd give it five or so years until someone makes a film or some kind of documentary about this.

This...this...needs to be made. I don't want some Inherent Vice, I want this!

By that it could even surpass There Will Be Blood, and with Phillip Seymour as The Master.....   :bye:
