The fairy steps - Beetham - Cumbria.

A pleasant uphill stroll through the peaceful woods above the Lakeland village of Beetham leads to a tranquil little grotto, where a curious flight of tiny stone steps squeezes its way between the bulk of two sheer rock faces. Tradition has it that elfin craftsmen constructed this strange formation and, as a result, for as long as anyone can remember they have been known as the fairy steps.

It is said that if you make a wish as you begin the descent, and reach the bottom without having touched the sides, your wish will be granted. Sadly, only someone whose stature matches that of a fairy stands any chance of accomplishing the impossible feat, and those who attempt it would be better employed keeping a keen eye peeled for a more menacing inhabitant of thos idyllic spot. He is a demon dog known as ‘the Cappel’, and he prowls this rocky lair when the receding light of the day has plunged the glade into nebulous shadow. To encounter his sinister form is an omen of approaching bad luck. But to gaze into his fiery eyes, hear his low baleful growl and smell his stinking breath is a portent of certain death!

Here’s some beliefs of the hoteliers : (believe it or not it’s up to you)

Every single hotel, there shall be at least a permanent room which should be left vacant at all times. No matter how full the hotel are, they are not to sell that room(s) to any guest. It was said that special room was “reserved” for those “special visitors”. So, if you plan to stay in some hotel, always book in advance. Try to avoid walk in.

If the receptionist tells you there are no more rooms available, do not insist one anymore or try to bribe them to give you a room. If you do that, most of the time the room you have will be that “special room”.

Sometimes those “special visitors” might go to other rooms also, so here’s some tips on how to protect yourself:

1. Before entering your room, always knock on the door first, even you know the room is vacant.
2. After you enter the room, if you feel very cold suddenly and have goosebumps, leave the room quietly & immediately and go to reception to request a room change. Most of the time the receptionist will understand what’s happening.
3. After you enter the room, immediately switch on all of the lights, and open the curtains to let the sun light in.
4. Before you go to bed, arrange your shoes so that one of them is upside down. Some say this is representing yin & yang to protect you while you’re asleep.
5. Always leave at least a lamp on while you’re sleeping, preferably the toilet’s lamp.
6. If you’re staying alone and they have give you a twin bed, do not sleep with the other bed vacant, try to put your things like luggage on the other bed before you sleep.

10 of the Scariest Movie Masks

Scary movies are a dime a dozen. But every once in a while, we are presented with a great horror film that truly gives us the creeps and maybe even a few nightmares. One important reason these particular movies are so scary is because of the creepy masks that hide the killer(s). We also consider the unseen monster behind the mask that gets our imaginations whirling. Here are 10 of (some) of the scariest movie masks of all time:

The Cabin in the Woods - Nothing says scary like a bunch of doll masks. It is that creepy vintage doll look that still scares in any circumstance. But the blacked-out eyes really make the masks even creepier. (2012)
Nightbreed - The film centers on a secret society of misunderstood monsters and the one true monster amongst them. David Cronenberg plays the psychotic psychiatrist whose button-faced alter ego with a zipper mouth is completely creepy. (1990)
Halloween - John Carpenter’s screenplay for Halloween’s described murderer Michael Myers in a featureless mask. The Halloween prop crew was on a budget, so they altered a costume store mask of William Shatner as Captain Kirk from the Star Trek series. (1978)
Alice Sweet Alice - You know that creepy, translucent mask that’s basically eyebrows and some makeup? A mask made to look so sweet and innocent presents exactly the opposite - sheer horror. (1976)
Donnie Darko - If the world really ends in 28 days, we don’t want to face Donnie Darko’s nightmarish bunny when all apocalyptic hell breaks loose. If a rabbit were ever one of the devil’s minions, that would be the one. (2001)
Friday the 13th - Summer camp killer Jason went from wearing a bag over his head to a hockey mask, which didn’t actually appear until the third film in the series. The now iconic mask was a happy accident, chosen at random during a lighting test. It was molded from a Detroit Red Wings goalie mask. (1980)
The Wicker Man - The strange villagers in Wicker Man wore these rustic, ominous masks during a twisted version of a pagan ritual that Edward Woodward’s character is forced to participate. It did not end well for him. (1973)
Silence of the Lambs - The mask of cannibalistic serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter emphasizes the facial feature responsible for his gruesome crimes: his mouth. He’ll eat your liver with some fava beans and a bottle of Chianti. (1991)
Saw - This pig mask featured in the Saw series might be scarier than all the torture and mayhem in the seven movies combined. (2004)
Texas Chainsaw Massacre - A classic American slasher, Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre features the unforgettable villain, Leatherface. The chainsaw-wielding madman, who wears a mask made from human skin (inspired by the real serial killer Ed Gein), has terrified audiences since 1974.

At 4:00 AM on December 10, 1999, an 18-year-old UCLA freshman named Michael Negrete logged off his computer after playing video games with his friends all night. At 9:00 AM, Michael’s roommate woke up and noticed that he was gone, but had left behind all his possessions, including his keys and wallet. He was never seen again.

The most curious aspect of Michael’s disappearance is that his shoes were also left behind. Investigators used search dogs to track Michael’s scent to a bus stop which was a couple miles away from campus, but would he really have walked that far without any shoes on? The only potential lead is an unidentified man who was seen in Dykstra Hall around 4:35 AM that morning, but no one knows if he has any connection with Michael’s disappearance. There’s nothing in Michael’s background to suggest he might have disappeared willingly, so the trail on him has remained completely cold for over a decade.

Belle Coleman, a disturbed woman who had attempted suicide before by shooting herself in the chest, was an inmate of Western Lunatic Asylum (later Western State Hospital). Her reported mania to suicide might have been the result of severe depression. On May 17, 1899, despite being watched by attendants, she managed to sneak into the bathroom. In those days, bathroom water heaters were essentially oversized kettles with no safety features. Belle turned on the faucet, stuck her head underneath, opened her mouth, and let boiling hot water pour down her throat and scald her body until she lost consciousness. She died in agony from her injuries shortly afterward.

The History

These two abandoned mining towns in Chile were recently featured on an episode of the SyFy Channel’s show, Destination Truth. In 1872, the town was founded as a saltpeter mine, and business boomed. However, after several heavy blows (including the Great Depression), the business declined and then collapsed in 1958, and the town of Humberstone and it’s surrounding towns were abandoned by 1960. Treatment of workers in both towns bordered on slavery, and now the towns are left standing derelict.

The Terror

It is rumored that the dead of the La Noria cemetery rise at night and walk around the town, and ghostly images frequently show up in photographs in Humberstone. These towns are so terrifying, the residents of nearby Iquique refuse to enter them. The former residents never left, and can be seen walking around, and children have been heard playing. The cemetery of La Noria, regardless of whether its occupants actually walk at night, contains opened graves where the bodies are fully exposed, leaving you to wonder why. Is it ghosts, or is it grave robbers? As if either prospect is very appealing.

New Mexico CB radio operators were shocked and concerned on August 7 to hear transmissions from a young boy pleading for help. His name was Larry, he told them, and he was trapped in a red and white pickup truck with his father, who might be dead.

According to Larry, his father had taken him on a hunting trip. At some point along the way, there was an accident and the truck overturned into a gully, jamming the driver and passenger side doors. He said he couldn’t get out, had no food or water, and no idea where the accident had occurred. He also made matters worse by constantly switching channels in an apparent panic. And he thought his father had suffered a heart attack and died.

Much to the operators’ frustration, Larry’s signal faded in and out. Due to atmospheric conditions, his cries were heard in California, Wyoming, and elsewhere. The authorities were contacted and the search for Larry began in New Mexico, somewhere in the mountains where local and state police believed the signal originated. Thousands of civilian volunteers hit the roads, but not all as part of the official search, leading to confusion.

As the days passed, newspapers and TV stations picked up the story. Larry’s signal grew weaker, a sign the battery was running out of juice. Practical jokers began mimicking his voice over the airwaves, adding to the chaos.

By August 12, no sign of an overturned pickup truck had been found, no one reported a missing boy, Larry’s signal disappeared for good, and authorities claimed the broadcasts were a hoax. However, no one has ever come forward to claim responsibility and no suspects were named. Were Larry’s cries for help a fraud? Or did a young boy die, trapped and alone? Themystery remains unsolved.

Fossilized giant discovered in 1895 by Mr. Dyer during minerary activities in County Antrim, Ireland. In the photo (published by the British magazine “Strand”) it is compared to a goods wagon.

The main measurements were: total height 12ft and 2 in, thoracic circumference 6ft and 6in, length of arms 4ft and 6in, weight 2 tons and 112 lbs. The right foot had six fingers.

After various legal debates to determine the ownership, nobody knows what happened to the giant.

Ariana Grande recently went to Kanas city, while there she and some friends went to one of the most haunted cemeteries in the world

Story goes on her Twitter that she took a picture of a tree and at first there was nothing there, 1 minute later she takes another pic of the tree and 2 faces were seen in the photo (she refuses to post on Twitter because she's superstitious and believes that whatever is in the photo has attached itself to said photo) her mother told her to delete that photo and of course she didn't listen.

Rest of the story goes, she woke up to a text from a "NO NUMBER " attached to the text was a photo of the 2 faces, she was and is probably still scared.

There's an instagram vid of 2 of her friends and herself explaining  why she won't post the photo, when it switches to her friend a shadow quickly goes into a room as if it was creeping behind the door.

Link to IG vid- http://instagram.com/p/dukmKhSWZv/

If you can screenshot the shadow please do so tbh.
