Kanye West’s ‘Donda’s House’ Charity Provides Arts Education for Chicago’s Young People


Kanye West sometimes makes headlines for all the wrong reasons; here’s a story that’s just the opposite.

Donda’s House — named, of course, after West’s beloved mother Donda, who passed away in 2007 — was originally the brainchild of husband-and-wife co-founders Donnie and Che ‘Rhymefest’ Smith. Knowing that about 75 percent of black and Latino young people in American don’t have access to arts education, the couple set out to make a difference in the lives of Chicago’s youth.
