Background: I know everybody's wondering, how the hell did I come up with this title? So here's the story: I go by middle name Brian, however my first name is Kingsley. So one day I just randomly decided to split my name in half, switch it around, thus came the title "The Sley King"..Also since my parents are from Nigeria(I was raised in Baltimore), so alot of my friends and other people always joke around and call me some **** like The King or "King of Africa" lol you know like some "Coming to America" type **** lol but anyways, I always thought it would be cool to role play, get out of character, and one I day said, why not do that with my music?

Theme: The Rise & Fall of The Sley King, Power (everything Kanye said in Power Remix: abusing, losing, misuing Power), Deception, Satisfaction, Overcoming Pressure & Other Obstacles in Life, Being Caught Up In The Moment, Loyalty, Taking Advantage of Every Oppurtunity, & Facing Reality. Overall its a pretty dark album, but NOT all of it is(there's a fair amount of light songs). Also just because I'm using this The Sley King character, doesn't mean I'm just making up some irrelevant bull****. The "rise and fall" of him symbolizes the "high and lows" in my life and my everyday struggle. So just keep that mind when you're listening to the songs on this mixtape.

btw, not every song will be directly about The Sley King(infact most wont even mention him) but they'll all correlate in a way and relate to those themes I mentioned  

Features: Lady Renaissance, Bzy, Backpackmatt, CJ The Genesis  and others that I will reveal later....still looking for some more features however. I have this one So Appalled type song on here that I'll need about 3-4 more rappers on, so PM me if you're interested.

Production: Chuck Lestrange, TODDERS, T-Bib, Glow Ghost, Franky_Freeze...Don't wanna spoil anything, but the mixtape cover and the production have a connection, as far what sounds you can expect on this tape(tribal drums). But then again, the production varies. Not one song or beat sounds similar but they all correlate in a way. Thats all I'm gonna tell you guys lol yall gonna have to wait to hear the rest

So the main theme of "Dead or Alive" is Deception...and the song is basically a story told in the perspective of 2 servants working for the Sley King. They describe their experiences, evil deeds, and regrets working for him at times, etc. I'll call them B-ri & Lex...B-ri is more of the assertive and focused servant, he believes that if he works hard enough, The Sley King will reward him eventually. Lex is very ****y and stubborn at times, but deep down inside he's really weak mentally/emotionally, just about anything will frustrate him. He's not as naive as B-ri tho, he's aware that The Sley King is using them, which is why he's planning on "taking over" one day, like a rebel if you will...Which leads me to the hook, which is basically saying that in order to gain ultimate power and authority, The Sley King will turn his back on the ones that were loyal to him. and B-ri & Lex are hoping that they make it through the this "Sley King Era", and praying they wont be one of his next targets/vitcims.....
the best example of this to all you Harry Potter fans, is how Voldermolt killed Snape(loyal supporter, obeyed his every command, etc) just so he could be the true owner of the Elder Wand and the most powerful wizard alive.
so the reason why I made The Joker the central figure of this song is because he's like a Evil Mastermind Genius, very hard to outsmart someone like him since he already knows all the tricks and games....hence the line "got your Jacks and Kings, but you could never beat The Joker"..not only is that a reference to card games, but its also saying that when you're facing someone like The Joker/The Sley King, you're in a lose lose situation and they will find a way to deceive you...so you better hope that you'll "survive in this world full of Lies"
