Protein shakes are essential. Without protein, you won't sufficiently build muscle. And without supplements, it's hard to get your daily protein needs from just foods. I'd suggest you check out bodybuilding.com 's store for protein. They usually have cheaper prices than GNC and fast shipping. I'd personally recommend 100% Gold Standard Whey Protein by Optimum Nutrition. It's around $40 for 5lbs. damn, i been lifting daily for months now. i lift much more than i used to but the muscle i gain isn't that noticeable |

Yes, I'm a huge fan of 4 sets for most exercises and as you decrease the reps, you increase the weight. I also like to switch up the exercises that I do each week because I feel like it helps to keep building up strength avoid being stuck at a plateau. An example of one of my chest workouts would look something like:I will try this tomorrow! |

i've been working out for a couple of months now in my home doing pushups, situps, lifting weights and drinking protein powder. I've gotten considerably bigger (much more than when worked out in a gym, but that was without protein powder). My only worry is if i'm not able to train every important muscle in the comfort of my home? I like going to the gym, but i'm there with my mates, and we usually don't get as much training done as i would by myself.

I would not recommend your current plan, but if you like it and don't want to change it, I would definitely add in shrugs to one of your workout days because it is critical to building your traps. Thanks. Yeah, Deadlift is definitely one of those exercises you have to do. I do them on leg-day |

PradaG, props for helping people out with legitimate advice. I have a question: You've probably heard that everyone should aim to drink one gallon of water daily. But shouldn't this value depend on your body weight? Why would an adult who weighs 140 lbs aim for 1 gallon and another adult who weighs 230 lbs aim for the same amount? |

PradaG, props for helping people out with legitimate advice. I have a question: No problem man, I actually hate when I see people giving false advice or just saying a bunch of bull**** that they think is true because it's what they've been told. And for the water question, I'm pretty sure that a gallon per day is just a minimum daily requirement. This is off the top of my head, but I'm pretty sure that you should actually consume 1oz per lb of bodyweight. And just a side-note for those who might think water isn't that important, there are many benefits to drinking water. If you don't drink enough, you will retain water that is already in your body. It affects kidney function, which then leads to the body metabolizing less fat. Drinking cold water also helps to burn calories because it takes an average person's body over 100 calories to heat the water to your body's core temp. |

Thanks. Yeah, Deadlift is definitely one of those exercises you have to do. I do them on leg-day if you're trying to hit your back, make sure you're doing regular deadlifts, not straight-leg deadlifts. straight leg deadlifts focuses on your hamstrings, not back. |

Interesting. So if you're correct, you should ideally be drinking 5 liters since you weigh 170. Are you able to drink that much on a daily basis?

Are you able to drink that much on a daily basis? yeah, i'm pretty sure 170oz would convert to about 1.3 gallons and i easily drink well over a gallon per day. it's easy when you don't drink anything other than water. |

Are those body building plans on bodybuilding.com good? You type in your age and stuff. And how safe and healthy are they? I've always wondered if trying to build muscle in a relatively short amount of time (12 weeks on that site) is actually healthy for you. |

Are those body building plans on bodybuilding.com good? You type in your age and stuff. i'm not totally familiar with their plans, but usually bodybuilding.com has pretty good information. so, i'm sure that what they recommend is safe and healthy, but probably not the most effective plans. although, the forum does have much better info than the site itself. |
