It's not, at least an official statements hasn't been released so far. Though, the sixth season of '30 Rock' will likely be Alec Baldwin's last, because he wants to concentrate on new career projects. We'll see how it goes from there.

So basically we lost the best part of The Office and now we're about to lose the best part of 30 Rock?   :'(

I like Alec, but for me the best part of '30 Rock' has always been Tina Fey.  :kanyeshrug:

Yeah, I'm more of a Baldwin fan but Tina Fey can be considered just as important and most of the time equally hilarious in her own way. I guess the show COULD carry on better than The Office without Carrel. But without the Fey-Baldwin relationship they're definitely losing a huge piece of what made the show great.

I just had a shorty, it's not that bad.

if baldwin leaves we can assume Tina will pack up shop. The show needs him and Tina knows she can make alot of money writing and directing big movies so she'll probably just switch to that full time.

Lorne Michaels said that the show would continue with a seventh season with or without Baldwin, though that Alec would still appear occasionally in future episodes. He just wouldn't be a series regular any more.

After Baldwin leaves, I don't see this show going on for much longer than one season tbh. I think Tina would like to focus on other stuff too, so the seventh season would probably be her last one. Without Fey and Baldwin, there's not much to look for. Although I think that the supporting cast is great, I don't see Morgan, McBrayer and Krakowski carrying the show by themselves.

Right. They are a great supporting cast but not stars in their own right. Especially now watching what is happening to The Office after Carrell left. They show is decaying in front of our own eyes.. When you rip the founding relationship dynamic out from under the show you and try to redefine everybody's role it doesn't work.

Thats why I not only think we are watching the last season of The Office, but also now NBC recognizes that when the star leaves, the show has got to go too. Regardless of what Lorne says Tina will have the final say in whether or not the show will go on. How long is the contract for? I always thought it was 5 years.

Sorry that was scatterbrained. But it makes sense right lol? (I'm a huge 30 rock, Office, and Parks & Rec fan) lol

Yes, it all makes sense.  :)

Baldwin said that the cast's contracts with NBC expire after the sixth season. However, NBC's first priority is to make money, so I doubt they'll give up so easily on this show. Look what happened to 'The Office'. I think they'll try to go on for one more season, with Tina being full-time and Alec guest starring from time to time. If they're smart, they will end the show after the seventh season. I just don't see this show going further without its two leads, being carried by the supporting team.

Yea this is their prime money maker, claim to fame, Emmy winning, critically acclaimed sitcom. They aren't going to give up on this without a monster fight. Idk should be interesting. I highly doubt Tina will say yes to it w/o Alec on full time though. The way she speaks of his chemistry with her in interviews is unbelievable.

30 Rock Is Going to Sort Out That North Korea Plot

When news of Kim Jong-Il's death broke last month, a very special subgroup of television nerd took to Twitter with concern for the fate of 30 Rock's Avery Jessup-Donghy. Avery, played by Elizabeth Banks, was taken hostage and married off to Jong-Il's son last season; fans assumed that the political developments would throw a wrench in the fictional plan to get her back to the States. Producer Robert Carlock confirmed as much to Us Weekly: "Jack's love life is pretty complicated and it just got more complicated because I think, technically, Avery is the First Lady of North Korea." But don't worry, they've got it under control: "We sort of went back to the script because we'd already shot eight or nine episodes and we realized that luckily we hand't referred to King Jong Il by name yet — just to North Korea in general … the fun puzzle is turning around and trying to figure out how to get her out of there." See, Avery is coming home!

Alec Baldwin Will Be Back for the Next Season of 30 Rock

There is good news for 30 Rock fans: Alec Baldwin has agreed to return for the 2012–13 season of the show, assuming NBC renews it for next fall.  Vulture asked NBC Entertainment chief Bob Greenblatt about Baldwin's status a few minutes ago, and he told us (and a scrum of dozens of reporters) that NBC "quietly did a deal this fall" with Baldwin. Baldwin had previously indicated the current season of the show, debuting later this month, would be his last. While he has seemed to backpedal on that statement a bit, his return to the show had previously not been guaranteed. There is one caveat: NBC technically has not renewed 30 Rock for next season, and Greenblatt said he likely won't decide until May. But assuming the show's ratings don't dive upon its return, there's a good chance it will be back — particularly now that Baldwin has signed on.

Emma Stone Will Drop By 30 Rock

What if we told you that Emma Stone had signed on to topline yet another omnibus comedy in the vein of Valentine's Day and New Year's Eve, and Andy Samberg and Nick Cannon are also onboard? What if we then told you that said sequel was entitled Martin Luther King Day, and its giant cast of stars includes Jenna Maroney? Now you've got it: Stone, Samberg, and Cannon will all be guesting on the January 26 episode of 30 Rock as co-stars of Jenna (Jane Krakowski), who's somehow wormed her way into a Garry Marshall–like comedy. What, they couldn't get Tina Fey's old friend (and New Year's Eve co-star) Seth Meyers, too?

How Will 30 Rock Address Tracy Morgan’s Gay Controversy?

During 30 Rock's off-season, Tracy Morgan courted controversy over the violently homophobic jokes in his stand-up routine, which led to a prolonged, carefully coordinated apology tour (one Morgan now seems a bit indifferent to). Now Huffington Post is reporting that Tina Fey has incorporated the controversy into 30 Rock's new season, in an episode where Morgan's character Tracy Jordan also makes anti-gay comments. Explained openly gay newsman Thomas Roberts, who filmed a cameo for the episode: "Liz Lemon writes Tracy's apology on the show and says he's not a homophobe, he's an idiot. That offends idiots, so while NBC is being picketed by the LBGT community, now it's also being picketed by idiots led by Denise Richards. She's the leader of the idiots." Well, this explains that whole Denise Richards protest slideshow from a while back. But will 30 Rock be able to pull off this tricky material?
