Hey, we put up a real good effort. Think it was 79-75 at one point in the 3rd Q.

Obviously though, just in terms of talent alone Australia is not and will never be in the same stratosphere as the USA in terms of producing good players.

Just read Bill Simmons article before on Grantland and he was glowing in his thoughts on the Boomers. Rated Mills highly although I don't think he's a starting caliber PG. Joey "Jingles" Ingles is talented but he's tried his hand at making the NBA a couple of times and failed. Maybe it's worth one more crack but I don't think he'll make it. Dave Anderson played for Houston a couple of years back. He's good at stretching the floor with his shooting range but he's pretty weak in the paint but offensively and defensively.

All in all, a good campaign from the Boomers. Just a shame Bogut wasn't. His post-presence would have helped greatly.

As for Irving, disappointing he chose the USA as he could have been the face of Australian basketball but good luck to him anyway. I'm sure his connections with Coach K (I'm not even going to try and spell it from the top of my head) helped.

USA should win Gold easy from here. Argentina will be. Good test but there's just far too much talent for the USA to lose to anyone.
