I know some people say MJ, Magic, Wilt or whoever. But imo Bill Russell is the greatest. Dude was crazy dominant, won more rings then he has fingers, and he's a really cool dude. Was basically a pioneer for basketball too. Anybody else feel the same way?

I feel the same way. His feats are insane. What he did in his time period, no one else has matched in their time period including michael jordan. Sadly, people seem to discredit the past and in 30 years people will be saying the same **** about Michael Jordan and how he played in a older era.

Bill Russell is one of the greatest and most complete players to ever play the game of basketball, and I'm not paying any attention at all to the championships he's won that puts every other player who dared call themselves great to shame. Unfortunately, great players seem to get lost as time goes on. It may or may not be deservedly so, but when people respond to Bill Russell's greatness as "well yeah, he did that all back in caveman days", it's a little heartbreaking. Athletic greatness is the most taken for granted aspect about our everyday lives nowadays. One of the greatest to ever play a sport; he definitely puts all the other greats to shame. Without a doubt. Maybe we've forgotten him just to even the playing field.

You know, Bill Russell isn't the only "old" player forgotten through time.



Don Hutson, one of the greatest football players to ever bless the NFL (and definitely one of the most dominant, if not the most dominant), is rarely mentioned among the all-time greats.



I'm not sure if it's not fair, but it's certainly not uncommon. Not even gonna get started on baseball's greats forgotten through time. Satchel Paige, Bob Ferguson... them, Hudson, Russell... all beyond great players who are only slighted by time.

Don Hutson, elgin Baylor, Unitas, and Oscar Robertson to some extent arenot given enough credit. Heck, people don't even know Moses Malone nowadays. All great players along with Russell.
