Apple's (AAPL) retail stores are giving employees raises today, according to a source.

We're told that every Apple retail employee will get at least a $4-per-hour raise. Some people are getting more, says our source.
It will go into effect on their July 20 checks.

This is based on an internal review process called NetPromoter that lets Apple employees critique the company.

It seems that enough Apple employees thought they were underpaid that the company decided to spread some money around.

Here in New York, the starting salary for an Apple specialist is about $13 or $14 an hour. After this, specialists will see a nice bump to $17 or $18 an hour.

Update: Business Insider now says only some Apple employees are receiving the $4-an-hour raises.

Apple Store "specialists" (sales associates) earn $8 to $16 an hour – $11.75 at the average, according to Glassdoor.com. A $4 raise for the average associate would mean a 33 percent pay hike; for the lowest-paid employees, it would be a raise of up to 50 percent.

Employees fixing your laptops, iPads and iPhones at the Apple Store's "Genius Bar," meanwhile, would be in line for raises ranging from 15 percent to about 30 percent – 22.1 percent at the average.

Yeah originally it was suppose to be a few weeks ago, but it got pushed back until the end of the month. It coincides with these reports. Maybe your store leader wanted a head start?
