Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are two race baiters, that have made inflammatory remarks over the past several years.
They speak out on things, such as the Tawana Brawley and Duke lacrosse, and Trayvon Martin, and continue to make stupid comments. Then, they are disproved and there is hardly as much as an apology.

Why do people still give them the time of day?
I wonder if there is a correlation to a rise in ratings when the race baiters are on a program.

Because two of the dumbest people on the planet have influence over people.

They are NOT the voice for current black generations. Add the new panther party to that list too.

I don't think most people, including blacks, pay much attention to them anymore.  They're very extreme in their views on black culture and continue to act like any case involving a white person and a black person of any crime is racist.  It's really annoying they're more or less hampering African Americans equality still.

I really wish MLK jr was still alive because then those two would have next to zero voice in any issues among blacks and whites.  I feel MLK wouldn't be nearly as extreme

Same reason why Rush Limbaugh and Bill Oriely get support: they reinforce negativity that a lot of Americana happen to believe. The media loves it because it sparks controversy with almost no effort. Just say one outlandish statement and everyone is tuning in.

Eh, Limbaugh did his thing with McNabb, and made unfortunate comments about Sandra Fluke, but I wouldn't compare them to the Tawana Brawley fiasco, Duke lacrosse, or Trayvon Martin.
