op mad ass ****..lmao

although he may not like N*ggas in Paris, or maybe the direction of WTT overall, there are "real" hip-hop artists still **** with Ye & Jay

ex. mos def, common, etc.

& im sure Ye & Jay are influencing those "real" hip-hop artists to make music.

so technically one wouldn't be wrong by saying albums like WTT that include songs like N*ggas in Paris actually IMPROVE hip-hop...

mad ass op..****attaherewitdat****

nip encourages younger mc's to make dumbass **** music in order to sell records

party like a rockstar
lean with it rock with it
this is why i'm hot
i like that
turn my swag on
put my stunna shades on
crank that soulja boy

nip goes in line with this songs and nothing more, anybody who rejects this must be a die hard kanye or jay-z fan.
now if two leaders of the industry put out an album with this song being their #1 single it tells a lot about the state of hip hop and which direction it is heading. In all honesty though, kanye and jay are only partly to blame cuz they only hop on the train which wayne, drake, and all other mainstream artists been riding for the last couple of years. you could call it the dumbass idiotic music train

no. it's supposed to be a PARTY track. you don't need good lyrics for that, you need to bump up the crowd and they have obviously suceed. The beat is awesome, that's why 20+ rappers freestyled over it :work:

no. the beat is horrible, the lyrics is horrible, but it fits perfectly to the general perception of hip hop nowadays, trashy circus music for trashy circus people.
if you want a party track then keep it real and listen to 'do it again', 'big pimpin' or 'the new workout plan'
nip is just horrible mainstream music

I can agree somewhat with OP. Though I do think it's more a product of one of the directions hiphop is going these days, than a kick in that direction. I don't think it's the major direction in hiphop, it's just one of em. So the worst thing that could happen to hiphop to hiphop: no. An overrated song: yeah, highly overrated.

Jay and 'Ye gave us a taste of WTT by dropping Otis as a single at first, that was lyrical AND catchy as hell at the same time

I think they've earned the right to have an ignorant ass song as the 2nd single :kanyeshrug:

Watch The Throne itself is the portrait of a black artist as a rich man. The album is more celebratory than braggadocios. Both of the artists came up from nothing, as Jay-Z muses in Niggas In Paris "this **** weird we ain't even supposed to be here". Indeed. On the surface Niggas In Paris is yet another boastful rap song, but when looking deeper it is a celebration of beating the odds. The title itself exudes this ideal. Niggas (black men with social and economic odds stacked against them) in Paris (a legendary city of class, wealth, romance, art, and culture), the rappers juxtapose the two ideals with one another throughout the song with lines like "spillin' Ace (expensive champagne) on my sick J's" (essential sneaker prevalent in urban communities).

Reaching on "deeper" meaning of Niggas in Paris. There is no juxtaposition of hood life to lavish lifestyle throughout the track like you're suggesting. Jay-Z mentions making it out of the dope game because...well he mentions that in about every song. The lyrics you mentioned is just one boastful line in a song filled with them.

Let's get faded, Le Meurice for like 6 days/
Gold bottles, scold models spillin ace on my sick J's/
**** behave - just might let you meet Ye/
Chi-town's D.Rose, movin the Nets to BK/

You're reading too much into it. Jay just bragging that he's such a boss he's gonna yell at a **** for spilling champagne on his shoes...sick J's fits the rhyme scheme. If you can find any deeper meaning in Ye's verse I applaud you. Is it a juxtaposition of Gucci and Fish Fillet????

Jay and 'Ye gave us a taste of WTT by dropping Otis as a single at first, that was lyrical AND catchy as hell at the same time

Whoa dere, Otis is lyrical? It's another NIP-type brag song, except with more clever wordplay.

The song is the prime example for everything that is wrong in the rap game nowadays.

horrible soulja boy beat
horrible lyrics with no depth
horrible song title

Thank you Jay & K for kicking hip hop into that direction. The world definitely needs more basedgods and wackas.

THIS IS MY HONEST OPINION
THIS IS NO TROLLING, MODS IF YOU CLOSE THIS AGAIN YOU ARE VIOLATING MY FREEDOM OF SPEECH

I don't think I'm looking too deeply. In context with the album, I really don't.

The (gold) cover designed by Tisci. Exuberance.

It's true 1% ****. Not your regular I've got money bull****.

Just look at NCITW. MTE. TMB. MIA. ... I could really go on analytically interpreting them for what they are, which is "we ain't even 'posed to be here" "black opulence, decadence"

NIP & MTE are the most obvious examples of this recurring theme on the entire album.

EDIT: Kanye's entire verse is basically inspired by Amber Rose being ghetto in his upper crust circle "What she order, fish filet" is that.

That couple of couplets in conversational terms.

That **** is crazy. She had no idea what to order at the five star restaurant. Then she said my car is dope. I was like chill, act like you've been here before.

OP makes a good point to a degree. I like meaningful songs but I can still enjoy tracks like NIP, a good track is a good track

80% of Ye's lyrics nowadays are about fame, models, and money.
That **** is boring.
It seems like Ye has lost his ability to tell a good story that many people can relate to.
That's why artists like Andre 3000 are so loved on this site.
Despite having money and fame, listeners can still relate to almost all of their lyrical content.

Not every song has to be extremely deep, Hip-Hop is meant to be fun as well. Just look at the WTT album, some deeper songs and still some party/hype songs. All about balance my brutha.
