That's what suggested that you think all religions provide salvation.
Lol, read the entire conversation rather than taking small tidbits of it.

Biological Evolution is flawed. How can one person believe in evolution, yet disregard biological naturalism? If evolution (by evolution i mean more complex life forms evolved from less complex life forms thru natural selection) is true, then how come everything we do, feel, act, behave is not a form of (pure or not) natural selection? Biological evolution and biological naturalism go hand in hand yet hardly anyone believes in both.

Sorry it's quite difficult when there's different arguments taking place at the same time...

That's a good question because God is said to be a God of ultimate love and compassion, so how it is reconcilable that He would send someone to hell to endure eternal suffering? That's where your actions outweigh everything. If you are truly sorry about your sins and do take the extra mile to have them forgiven, then I would see how you would be forgiven and allowed to enter into heaven. The people that don't give two ****s and blatantly disrespect one another and show no signs of wanting to repent, those are the ones that are the most likely to go to hell.

On the topic, "does hell exist", Pope John Paul II stated in 1999 that, “Rather than a physical place, hell is the state of those who freely and definitively separate themselves from God, the source of all life and joy.” So another viable option to my first paragraph, is that hell actually is not a place that one could go after death, rather just a "stage" or a state of mind.

It's an interesting discussion...

well as an atheist, i dont believe in hell so no one is going there. it just seems like a good idea to scare people into being good

I agree with this. Because infinite torment seems difficult to equate with finite amount of crimes. However since sin separates us from God, the type of 'state' of mind seems like a logical conclusion. I just don't get why then the Bible talks about 'all liars deserving to be in the lake of fire'. That sounds like physical pain.

Shouldn't the debate be between Atheism and Religion?

That's where the concept of purgatory may come into play. Maybe we have to suffer in order to reach eternal salvation by enduring the pain that we caused to others.

But, do modern day Christians not believe that by accepting Jesus (pbuh) dying for their sins, they have no need for that?

I can't believe what I'm reading, a civilized debate on hot issues.  Way to go everyone.  A better topic than Atheism versus Christianity would just be the question "does God exist?".  Once you determine if God exists you can look at each of the world faiths and see which if any is true but logically the first place to start is with God's very existence

but nobody would be able do convince a 'believer' god doesn't exist, and an atheist that god does exist.
