Mass Effect Thread (Omega DLC Coming Soon!)

In the year 2148, explorers on Mars discovered the remains of an ancient spacefaring civilization. In the decades that followed, these mysterious artifacts revealed startling new technologies, enabling travel to the furthest stars. The basis for this incredible technology was a force that controlled the very fabric of space and time.

They called it the greatest discovery in human history.

The civilizations of the galaxy call it...

The first game in the series was originally created as an exclusive title for the Xbox 360 but was later ported to Microsoft Windows by Demiurge Studios, and will be ported to the PlayStation Network in the future. The game focuses on the protagonist, Commander Shepard, and his/her quest to stop the rogue 'spectre' Saren Arterius from leading an army of geth to conquer the galaxy. During pursuit of Saren, Shepard learns of a far greater threat in the form of the Reapers. Saren has been mentally enslaved by the Reaper vanguard Sovereign, sent into Citadel Space to initiate the purge of all advanced sentient life in the galaxy, a cycle repeated by the Reapers every 50,000 years. Mass Effect was received with critical acclaim by many industry reviewers, and has garnered a large fan-following.

The second main game in the series was released on January 26, 2010 in North America and January 29 in Europe. A great deal of secrecy surrounded the game prior to launch, with few details emerging other than Casey Hudson, Project Director for BioWare, stating that "players should keep their save files, because decisions made by the player in the first game will continue to have influences on their character in the sequel."The game takes place two years after the events of Mass Effect. Human colonies are being attacked, their colonists disappearing without a trace. The game's protagonist, Commander Shepard, is forced into an uneasy alliance with the pro-Human paramilitary organization, Cerberus, in an effort to discover the cause. Evidence emerges pointing to the 'Collectors', an advanced, enigmatic race of insect-like humanoids. Adding to the threat is the revelation that the Collectors are working for the Reapers. Shepard sets out on a "suicide mission" to stop the Collectors, accompanied by a hand-picked team of soldiers, assassins, mercenaries, and specialists. Mass Effect 2 has received overwhelming critical praise since its release, for its characters, storyline, voice acting, and refined combat and gameplay.

The story is the 'epic conclusion' to the story started in Mass Effect and continued in Mass Effect 2, as well as the conclusion of Commander Shepard's story.[19] The player's choices in the previous games were expected to have a much more significant impact on the plot than the choices in Mass Effect had on Mass Effect 2. As Mass Effect 3 is the end of the planned trilogy, the developers are not constrained by the necessity of allowing the story to diverge, yet also continue into the next chapter. This will result in a story that diverges into wildly different conclusions based on the player's actions in the first two chapters.[20]
Fate of the galaxy
Throughout Mass Effect 3, Commander Shepard will be bringing the civilisations of the galaxy together as allies to take back Earth and repel the Reaper invasion. The player's choices throughout not only Mass Effect 3, but the entire trilogy, will affect the fate of these civilizations and the endings the player can receive
Earth is burning. Striking from beyond known space, a race of terrifying machines have begun their destruction of the human race. As Commander Shepard, an Alliance Marine, your only hope for saving mankind is to rally the civilizations of the galaxy and launch one final mission to take back the Earth.

The Indoctrination Theory....

Is it just me, or does the entire ending sequence not feel like it fits in with the overall theme of the ME universe? It just feels.... off. I cant really describe it.

It seems otherworldly and kind of unfocused.

And when you talk to TIM, you get those weird black things at the edges of the screen.

I am of the opinion that once reaching the Citadel, severely wounded, and losing blood, Shepard hallucinated most of the ending sequence.

It would explain why the kid was there.

The weird blackness when TIM tried to control you and you tried to fight it could be Shepard fighting against blood loss and trying not to pass out (hence the darkening around the edges of the screen)

It explains how even the crew who were wounded with you near the portal in London ended up on the Normandy, and even why the Normandy was leaving Earth in the first place, its because Shepard isnt thinking clearly, and these are just the images dreamed up by a deteriorating brain.

Also, there is a likelyhood that having spent so much time around Reapers, Shepard is slightly indoctrinated. The Synthesis ending really doesnt make much sense, other than the fact that the little kid seems to think it is the best option. We never get an explanation on how jumping into a beam of energy that kills us will do anything like what it is said it will do.

The Reapers used Shepard's slight indoctrination and confused state as part of a last ditch effort to get Shepard to take himself out of the picture, since they knew that if they didnt do so, Shepard was about to win.

tl;dr blood loss leads to reaper victory

Hallucination makes the most sense, in my humble opinion.

Maybe Bioware will release a DLC where it turns out the horrible endings were all just a hallucination that you experienced after you got knocked unconscious by Harbinger while heading towards the portal thingy, and then you can go on to have endings that actually make sense.
You decide to believe.............

That ****ing sucks, if my character from Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 got deleted I wouldn't play M3 real **** lol

They only did that comic book thing for Ps3 though cause they didn't get Mass Effect...

I'm sure in the beginning for newcomers someone will ask you questions like in Mass Effect 2 asking what your background was, who died in 1 and 2 etc

They had a comic for 360 as well? Oh **** I never knew that, was it a separate download or something?

Yea both games are long as ****, but Mass Effect 2 went by faster for me even though my total playthrough time was longer than it was in Mass Effect 1.  There's some parts in 1 that just drag on sooo ****ing long for me like the ice planet where you meet the queen rachni.

I was also thinking of doing another playthrough as well to get hyped, I just don't want to ****ing scan planets and do everyone's loyalty mission in Mass Effect 2 again though lol

And plus the fact that Grunt died in my playthrough even though he was a ****ty character I could care less about, won't lie though his loyalty mission was bad ass though, Wrex better come back as a squadmate for part 3

Yeah it was released a couple of months ago, I believe.

Yeah, I'll admit some parts of ME1 did drag but overall it's worth a replay

I had everyone survive in ME2, too fml haha

I might replay both on easy and just play through it rather quickly or I'll just do the comic for ME1 and play through ME2 quickly on casual.

Oh man, if Wrex comes back that would be epic af! I let him live in the first one.

Wouldn't mind if Wrex replaces Garrus this time around, but I think I remember seeing him in the previews so I'm pretty sure he's going to be back.

Man I remember the hype and videos that showcased the new combat and new characters for Mass Effect 2, I know it might be a little too soon to start the hype train, but it's pretty weak so far.  There's like very little that I know what's new in 3 besides the new close quarters combat.

And what the hell is up with the new characters, or yknow the lack of new ones.  Kaiden or Ashley coming back is pretty cool, but besides them and the generic military looking guy, I haven't seen any..

Tbh with you bro, I have forced myself to not read up on anything ME3. I want to be surprised when I play the game. This is my favorite series of all time and I'm way too into the storyline, so I don't want any spoilers.

Wasn't it already delayed? It was supposed to come out last November if I'm not mistaken.

I guess I'll pre order it soon. It's gonna suck having it and not being able to play until I rebeat the first two :cryfam:
