Honestly I'm glad that Bieber's subject matter still has a little immaturity to it. Just because he's 18 now doesn't mean he has to dive into making super sexual records just to show how grown he is now. I personally think he should slowly grow into that so it seems natural. Boyfriend isn't an AMAZING song but it's catch and the right balance of his newer more mature sound and the teeny bopper sound that made him famous.

It's not mature lyrically but it's more mature as far as the way it sounds. The whispered rapping, the semi-seductive bass heavy beat and a more mature vocal performance. It'd be weird hearing him do this song when he was 15-16 but now it seems normal.
