I might not have been clear enough about the planned redesign. We don't plan on splitting all of the major gaming threads into separate subsections.

The default section will be dedicated to gaming. A thread for each console, along with a thread for gamertags, will be stickies. All of the gaming threads will be in this section. The "big" gaming threads will stay as is. However, minor new threads about that game (ie "Should I pick this up? Is it good?") will get merged into them. We'll still allow new threads about major gaming news, along with general gaming discussion.

The new subsection will be called "Tech", and will house all of the computer, cell phone, and general technology discussion. It will have stickies for OSX/iOS, headphones, and the desktop screenshot thread.

This sounds good actually. The stickies for each console should reduce the amount of general discussion threads by a bit as well.

By nature a subsection is going to get much less attention than the main section... why not split up the gaming and tech into two main sections... I think they both deserve attention tbh

Something tells me that S. wouldn't be too keen on that idea, and I really don't think that a Tech section would be popular enough to warrant an entire section. A subsection seems like the perfect size for a general technology area.

Honestly there wouldn't be enough activity for a whole Tech section to stand on its own.

Good idea. I thought about this type of thread being a sticky but there's just too many at the moment. If we ever split the section up then it will more than likely become a sticky in the Gaming section.

That's a good question.

We just added some rules to help combat . . . certain threads. If you want to help us fine tune them, feel free to leave suggestions.
