Okay so I'm still not 100% sure of one thing. Did Katniss actually have romantic feelings towards Peeta or was it merely an act to grab an audience?

Both.
Mainly a ploy to get audience sympathy but she did slowly begin to develop feelings for him.

In the first actual book, though, they make it more-or-less clear that the latter is what's going on. In the film, it's intentionally less clear, perhaps to reflect the internal conflicting feelings she really does hold.

Anyone else think this is kind of mocking society and how we idolize celebrities and ****?

I think part of it is mocking reality tv and how people were eating up this mindless slaughter like it was high quality entertainment but I think one of the big themes in the book/movie is the difference between different classes...you have the poor districts sending all these kids to die for the benefit of the high class Capitol crowd.

Damn, I re-watched the movie and it still makes no sense to me why .....

....he'd join the alliance looking for Katniss. And why didn't they kill him once they found her?

Was he trying to stall them out?

Was he being legit about his feelings towards her? It seemed like it.

Why was it necessary to even mention Gale and his 42 name entries? Seemed like a superfluous detail.

I didn't understand whether the guys from District 1 went to a "special academy" to train for The Hunger Games or if it was just to mention that they're part of the nation's elite.

I liked the movie but some of the details were glossed over too lightly.

Also ....

Minor nitpick but, how'd the peacekeepers deliver the goods into the arena without getting bodied? It'd seem like an angry tribute would naturally try attacking them near the cornucopia.

lolwuht?

and to answer your other questions they dont really make it known in the movie too well, but in the book it sort of hints that peeta would tell them where katniss was, because they were threatening to kill him. And yeah, he was never trying to "purposely" lead them to her.

His feelings are definitely realer than Katniss' that's for sure.

They literally never talk about how putting your name into the drawing more times gets you food in the movie, but mentioning Gale's # of times sort of supposed to make the odds of primrose getting picked seem that much more drastic I guess. I also think it will matter in the later books/movies (but I haven't read them yet)

And yes, the peeps from district 1, and 2 (and 4 in the book) are trained through life for the games and then volunteer themselves. I don't think there was any special academy though :dno:

He was walking behind them. This made me think he was last in their line-up for a dramatic reveal. Plus, he was armed. If he was being held at spear-point, I would've inferred he was being held captive/being forced to led them to Katniss.

That said, I don't believe she'd ease up to him so easily after that. It's literally like, "You know, I saw you trying to get me killed, but it's coo'." Katniss is way too methodical for that.

Then again, he did tell her to run after the incident with the tracker jackers. Still, how'd he maintain perfect motor control after having a sea of them unleashed on him? She was tweakin' after three bites.
