I think it kind of ****ed up that no matter how good of a person I am I will still go to hell, but a rapist who asks for forgiveness will get in with no problem. How is that right ? How can a person who has never sinned in their life go to hell forever just because they wont acknowledge something that has a much of a chance as existing as aliens ? I tried my best believe but this alone has turned me off. what? everybody has sinned, no matter who you are. and the rapist, it not just saying "I want to be forgiven" and thats it, its a process, to show that in your heart you truly want to be forgiven. everyone is equal, so you can be forgiven as well. |

I was doing some writing on the resurrection and i came across the quote below, thought i'd share it. "Here is a man who was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman. He grew up in another village. He worked in a carpenter shop until He was thirty. Then for three years He was an itinerant preacher. He never owned a home. He never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never had a family. He never went to college. He never put His foot inside a big city. He never traveled two hundred miles from the place He was born. He never did one of the things that usually accompany greatness. He had no credentials but Himself... While still a young man, the tide of popular opinion turned against him. His friends ran away. One of them denied Him. He was turned over to His enemies. He went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed upon a cross between two thieves. While He was dying His executioners gambled for the only piece of property He had on earth – His coat. When He was dead, He was laid in a borrowed grave through the pity of a friend. Nineteen long centuries have come and gone, and today He is a centerpiece of the human race and leader of the column of progress. I am far within the mark when I say that all the armies that ever marched, all the navies that were ever built; all the parliaments that ever sat and all the kings that ever reigned, put together, have not affected the life of man upon this earth as powerfully as has that one solitary life." |

I meant the number. It was 666... Posting in a Christianity thread.... Didn't even notice that lol, thought u meant i was posting random quotes to get my count up. My bad Edit: interesting fact for the day. 666 is no longer thought to be the number of the beast. the earliest and most reliable m****cripts have it as 616 and there are moves by scholar to get it changed in the bible translations |

Why would it be changed? That's interesting. I don't know what translation of the bible you have but if you use a good study one (ESV study bible is excellent) it will have a footnote which says some m****cripts have 616, recent discovers have more and more of the earliest m****cripts with 616. Basically somewhere along the line some changed 616 to 666 and then when it was copied it was keep which is how it spread. We can be certain that 99.5% of the NT we have now is how it was originally written and the other 0.5% is minor details like 666 which don't affect the main points about Christianity. The only significant changes made to the NT over the last 1900 years are 2 passages which were added. Mark 16 9 to the end and John 8 1-11. However it is my view that the story in John 8 did happen and may have been intended for lukes gospel. Sorry to Nerd out, I'm pretty well read in Theology and it's a great interest of mine. |

Guys, my weekend was SO amazing! I was at the Man Up 2012 conference downtown and it really was something special. Picture this: A room full of over 2,000 YOUNG men from every race and nationality coming together to worship Christ and learn what it really means to be a biblical man. It was truly a special experience and I'm so blessed that I got a chance to go. The even was sponsored by Reach Life Ministries, so there were a lot of Reach Records Artists such as Lecrae, Trip Lee, and Tedashii there, as well as great Pastors to deliver the message. The Man Up concert at the end of the conference was amazing as well!!! Being a MAN is not about material things or physical attributes, it's about taking up your cross and following Jesus, and knowing that truly we are NOTHING without him. Taking humility over pride is what makes a man. Knowing that we can't get through life on our own is what makes a man. God Bless.

YOU WERE THERE TOO?!?!Yes man!!! I wish I woulda known you were there, we could have hung out! ![]() I agree, everything was just really hitting home with me and God was definitely in that room in full force. One of the biggest things I took away was when Leonce Crump was talking about Temptation. That's one of the biggest problems young teens deal with and I have been dealing with it too in the past. What really hit me hard was when he talked about how Jesus was tempted in everyway that we were, and that at the end of the day, he was Human too. "I May Be Tempted, But In Christ I Wont Be Taken!" What did you take from it? I will have to check them out. And yes I got the Trip Lee album!! So dope! One Sixteen>>>>>ALL I NEED IS ONE SIXTEEN!!! lol I think I'ma be in the video too

Alright guys, I need your help. I've been confused about my faith for a couple of years now. Having grown up Catholic, I followed the Catholic teachings pretty much to a T. However, as I've grown, I've started to question the validity of the bible. While the teachings in the bible are all very correct, I've begun to believe that the entire book is of parables, metaphors that have been blown out of proportion over the years. It's like the result of a millennia long telephone game. Further, my faith in the church as a physical institution has waned as well. I really don't enjoy being in the company of the majority of those that attend my church. They're very closed minded; I asked a friend at my church about this very topic, and he told me that I needed to spend some extra time praying. I pray every night to God. I believe in Him and in Heaven and an afterlife for his followers. I follow His teachings at their core. However, I don't follow the specific teachings interpreted in the bible for the benefit of specific humans (gays are bad, etc.). What denomination am I? I don't fit into Catholicism, that's for sure. I'm definitely identifying myself as a Christian, but I'd like to find some community within Christianity that subscribes to the same beliefs as I do. |

Alright guys, I need your help.Well before worrying about what denomination you are I would continue to focus on working on your relationship with God. Where do you live? Maybe a Baptist church or a non-denominational church would be good. It's ok to have doubts about your faith at times, it's pretty normal for Christians. I would maybe look into getting this book that talks about the validity of the Bible and all http://www.bloggingtheologically.com/2011/02/07/book-review-is-the-bible-true-really-by-josh-mcdowell-and-dave-sterrett/ Keep seeking for the truth, God will lead you to it. I will be praying for you man! |

Yes man!!! I wish I woulda known you were there, we could have hung out!The crazy thing is we probably saw each other and didn't even know it haha? What if I was like right next to you at the concert or something?? Yeah what Leonce said was big. I feel like we so easily forget and sometimes underemphasize the fact that believers are filled w/ the same Spirit of Christ! I also liked what he said about sin coming from 1 of 3 things. 1.) When Satan makes you question your identity. 2.) Satan feeds our tendency toward idolatry if he can't do #1 3.) Satan will tell us God isn't really who he says he is. And that we can go to God's throne in confidence because of Jesus. I got a ton out of it, I got a bunch of notes lol. I thought what John said about passivness and how that is almost seen as a virtue by the world but passivity really is when the love for your self crowds out the loves for others, which is not what a believer should be like. I also liked what Adam said "Earthly responsibility void of eternal responsibility is irresponsibility." Like supporting your family, and paying the bills is something that is normal, but a real man does more than that and is the spiritual leader of the family and stuff. I could go on, but this is good for one post. I need to send in my footage of that video lol. |

No worries, I'm pretty solid in my belief in Him. I'm just trying to find a way to worship Him that works for me. I heard Baptist might be the way to go, I'll look into that. I'll look into that book as well. For the record I live in Minnesota. |
