did you get anything out of it other than the effects of what an addiction can do to you? what do you think was the most important part. I have to summarize it for a project but it's really hard to summarize considering there wasn't really a plot and everything just sort of mushed together. I think since burroughs intended for it to be read in any order, i will just go into detail about a few parts, but if you can think of some other themes that'd be awesome.

Yes, it's intended so you could read it in any order. Honestly, I didn't understand it either. I don't think it's meant to be understood. Like it's plot is the psycho-ramblings of a drug addict. The protagonist is a junkie and so was Burroughs. It's trip down his subconscious.

How's the I Am the  messenger book?

Sorry, Im late on this. But I loved it. Not up to The Book Thief, but his writing was almost at the level he's at now and the story was pretty cool. The strengths were definitely in his beautiful imagery and the relatability of the characters and how human they feel, much like in TBT. Definitely worth the read (though distinctly Australian, which threw me off at times)

Yes. Definitely do that! Notes of a native son is one of the greatest books of the last century imo.
