Reading 2666 by roberto bolano anyone ever read it?  **** is dope if you can follow along with it.

Word, I'm not surprised.  I forgot where I even heard about it but I'm glad I started reading it.  Been sitting in my 'to read' pile for months picked it up in Jan and I'm about halfway through now.  Just started 'the part about crimes'.  It has this really mysterious, eerie feel that makes me keep reading and want to know what happens next.  Plus the writing is vivid and brilliant.

I know what you mean man. I use to love reading novels until I hit Uni (English major as well) and have been reading my life away. It's made me not want to read for enjoyment anymore

What's weird about his writing style? I read it a few years ago, a translated version though, but still, can't recall anything extraordinary.

Haha yeah I know what you mean. I was an English major as well and I never really got into medieval literature for instance. I think it's about finding your niche, what era interests you most, and keeping your literary palette refined and current. What I mean by that is reading as much as you can and reading contemporary literature as well. There's nothing more annoying than when someone's favorite book is something they were forced to read in school. It shows they never really independently developed their literary tastes, never explored novels on their own, and found what type of genre they like most. But I digress. There's a lot of good classic literature that I discovered as a English major. Heart of Darkness, for one, was great.
