Baz Lurhmann is set to adapt Fitzgerald's classic American novel into film for 2012. Set in post World War I's roaring 20's, Nick Carraway is the eye and the outsider when he finds himself in glittering high society New York. As the summer unravels he realises that things are not as enchanting as they seem. Nick narrates events as the cousin of Daisy Buchanan and the neighbour of the enigmatic Jay Gatsby. Ever keen to put a spin on a classic Baz has hinted the film may be in 3D format.

I think this has the possibility of being good, if not great.  However, I'm wondering why this was shot in 3D (besides the obvious studio pressure).
